We've added a new medication for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) to our drug interaction checker: Elafibranor (Iqirvo®).

All of our summary tables have been updated to include elafibranor and a download is available of the new interactions for our mobile apps.

We have removed two obsolete therapies (Bamlanivimab/Etesevimab and Bebtelovimab) from the COVID-19 drug interaction checker. This allows us to focus on clinical need when preparing our drug interaction summaries.

Cancer Therapies: Arsenic trioxide, Teniposide, Tucatinib, Trabectedin
Gastrointestinal Agents: Roxatidine (2/2)

Screenshot of yellow summary of Paxlovid (5 days) with ethinylestradiol. Summary reads: Coadministration has not been studied but can be considered. Ethinylestradiol is metabolized by hydroxylation and glucuronidation. When used in a combined pill, ethinylestradiol is expected to be reduced. This is unlikely to impair contraceptive efficacy, particularly considering the short duration of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir treatment, though it may increase the risk of irregular bleeding. However, it should be noted that the Paxlovid product labels state patients using combined hormonal contraceptives should be advised to use an effective alternative contraceptive method or an additional barrier method of contraception during treatment with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir, and until one menstrual cycle after stopping nirmatrelvir/ritonavir.

🚦Updates to Paxlovid interactions: 97 yellow interactions with 5-day administration reviewed, 9 changed to 🟢GREEN, 3 changed to 🟠AMBER, and 85 kept as 🟡YELLOW with the additional comment that “coadministration has not been studied, but can be considered”.
