There’s no mechanism for the American people to remove a President other than violent uprising. There’s a mechanism for the Senate to remove a President, but the Senate is inherently undemocratic and controlled by conservatives by design. We are, naturally, reluctant to do a violent uprising.

A court ordered the polls to stay open for an additional 2 hours because of confusion around polling locations being changed. Paxton nixed that ruling. Now the voters who got in line during those 2 hours are in limbo.

I would love to see that change! Unfortunately, so much of our media is captured by billionaires and it’s only getting worse now. I do see differences in independent media, of course. But the reach is not the same. Legacy media is fully in the tank for Trump.

People are not their governments. And they especially aren’t other people’s governments. I constantly feel powerless to do anything about it, and I was taught that democracy was supposed to give me power. It fucking sucks.

That’s ok. I can tell that your anger about the genocide (and inevitable increases in death in the region after today) is sincere. I’m really mad about it to. The people don’t deserve any of this. The Palestinian people deserve to live and be free. The Iranian people deserve to live.

It’s so easy to slip between righteous fury about the actions of our own government and millennia-old conspiracy theories. In the 1930s, the nazis made a concerted effort to push these conspiracies to regular people, an it largely worked. It’s still working, and I don’t have a solution for it.

I agree. It’s unconscionable. I have no words for what I see in Gaza, and I hate that the US Gov is supporting it. There are a lot of geopolitical reasons why the US supports Israel in everything, an it really really sucks. But, it’s really easy to fall into conspiracy theories.

What does Anne Frank have to do with this? You are blaming American Jews for Israel’s actions. And telling us not to complain about antisemitism because Israel is doing really bad things. Antisemitism puts Jews all around the world in danger, and it’s getting worse and worse. Especially today.

Blaming Jews writ large for the actions of the Israeli Government is really giving away the antisemitism game.

You are blaming a religious minority that lives all over the world for the actions of a specific government. Jews are not like the German citizens of the 1940s. Most of us have nothing to do with the Israeli government. Most of us have never even been to Israel.

They even gave a specific example of trying to immigrate to Canada, where their partner has dual citizenship, and being denied because of their disability. This happens to so many disabled people. Countries do not want to accept disabled immigrants and they will make it extremely expensive for them.

No. They literally didn’t. They said that if you are disabled, you need to be rich to move abroad. They were talking about the specific experience of disabled people who are frequently denied the immigration pathways that are open to abled people like yourself.

You are speaking as a non-disabled person about a typical abled experience of moving to a different country. They are speaking as a disabled person about a typical disabled experience of trying to move to another country and being denied without large funds. Please try to see how these are different

They never claimed that their experience was everyone’s or that yours was invalid. They claimed that their experience was real for them and for many other disabled people, which is true! You did not respond with empathy, you responded with denial.

Please have some empathy for this person who is in a very different situation from you. The country that took you in as a refugee will not take them. This is an experience that a lot of disabled people have.
