Yeah. Behind it all is protecting investments and their own little or not so little nut. Principles are no match for protecting your own piece of the pie. Real change would upset too many apple carts.

As July 4th passes, I do feel shame we allowed the corrupt purchase within the halls of power. I also feel pride for our nation of immigrants, a fiercely independent, fair dealing people. Many moments make our history, with glimmers of greatness. God grant we rise and bend the future toward justice!

We will use their horrific agenda to turn voters against them by the millions in the midterms. And yes, there will be midterms. Don’t even think about voicing defeatism and doing their work for them.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

I’m reading a guidebook that has a table of useful French words and phrases for navigating Paris. “Rendez-moi mon porte-monnaie!”made this short list. “Give me back my wallet!” whereas “Where is the nearest bathroom?” is conspicuously absent.

If only we had an administration that cared about actual people and tried to solve their real problems, instead of undermining science, education and everything that makes America great and treating one of the once most respected and important responsibilities in the world as a reality tv show.

“Building Harlequin’s Moon” by Brenda Cooper and Larry Niven is a damned fine novel! Epic in scope, well-drawn, compelling characters and a tremendous climax. I highly recommend reading it!

This is the time for poets, bards and singers! This is the time to shout! We are in a life and death struggle of ideas! What you believe is important. What you know will carry you forward through this dark time! You are important and what you want matters more than what those in power want of you.

Few people retain empathy through uncomfortable truths that challenge their assumptions. It is very difficult to perceive another human as part of your tribe when their life, appearance, their very existence is alien to yours. If we are to survive, we must stretch ourselves.

I had a blast in Tucson Saturday at #Hyprov. I was one of 4 folks picked to form the “improv troupe” out of 20 volunteers. We got to perform improv under hypnosis. The highlight for me was getting to sing a duet with @colinmochrie.bsky.social. What an experience! Great fun!
