uhmmm im defs no longer the same person from 2 years ago..for better or for worse idk, but it has been the happiest i’ve ever been since and the hardest i’ve cried over friendships earned and lost… i try to be a lot more forgiving even if that means walking away for peace of mind

i’m no outside person nor an extrovert by any means and i truly just love being at home but i do like meeting people with different experiences and conversing bc i love connection… talk to each other ! hug each other! we need it now more than ever

awww looked at my selfie going to my first ever show and to meet ppl…almost been 2 years which marked the first time i stepped out my comfort zone to go to shows completely by myself … so much has happened since then but im greatful for the hospitality nonetheless 💗

i have yet to read those stories though so they’re on my list and gonna report back later on that.. a lot of his work r light in tone with occasional shifts to dark themes but not extreme stuff. i guess those r the stories where it’s just the one note so im curious

but the essay was about his darker works ( ayako and swallowing the earth r the ones mentioned )that included talks of sexual assault, disregarding of morals, etc; and how it reflects jpn social ladder globally and of itself, relating to the eras

i’m glad the essay actually touched a little bit about his life pre war bc he was actually quite privileged to have access to a plethora of resources from his family so i’m quite sure this expanded his perspective globally by a lot than just looking at the horizon line

i have no strong feelings abt ghibli works, it’s okay to indulge in a little romanticized life but not if it then deludes and creates a tunnel vision of what life encompasses LOL

i was reading an essay that wrote this, and this would have described why i think he didn’t (or wouldnt ?) like ghibli films in his own terms. i guess they’re too romanticized just based off the ones i’ve seen and the ones people love

it had to be around the same time he was working on the astro boy anime too like a year prior ? he’s a work horse, god bless him my teachers would’ve loved him as a student (crunch culture)😭💔

he is not my favorite animator by any means, it’s quite amateurish as it was still early in his career when he decided to pursue animation but he is a really good storyteller that it really makes up for his animations! very cute

as he wanted them to have an international presence and he wasn’t a fan of 3d animation as it couldn’t replicate hand drawn and that’s why hand drawn is special (but this was the 80s so practically it’s literally in it’s infancy ) 🤔 this seems like an ongoing debate btwn artists

anyways to say in short: he had RANGE, to be a cartoonist (and animator ) is to have a variety of styles you can mimic but he also had to change his style to keep up w trends...i watched a video abt his opinion on animation, he said something along the lines of he didn’t care abt jpn animation-

a lot of the works in this one are of his late career uhmmm it’s hard to say occasionally the sketches blur between years but it would have been a tad bit more interesting to see some of his pre war drawings but i’m assuming a lot of that is in a vault or just in the museum

tho on ghibli i dont think he liked them (story and marketing wise ) LOL 🤔 i could be wrong but from the video im referring to it would seem so but i digress

so i had grabbed an art book dedicated to tezukas sketches at my library, it’s kind of funny that sometimes his art style reminisces of moto hagio, ghiblis style, rumikos then some hanna barbera and upa-esque style as that was of its time and ofc disney

if he’s freelance then shouldn’t he schedule when he wants a break LOL??? he could just also refer to a friend of that same skill level just as him too if it’s “too many clients” 😭😭
