tsuki pushes him back and his smile is content as kags’ vision is obscured by pink light. “i win,” is the last thing kags hears before he’s teleported off the training grounds.
(end)
tsuki parts from him with a soft sigh. “tobio,” he murmurs just below kageyama’s ear before trailing featherlight kisses down his neck.
warmth surrounds kags as his eyes flutter open.
+
they’re both too hot, already breathing heavy from overexertion, but when tsuki’s lips meet his everything goes quiet. the crackling that usually chills his hands dims down and spreads out into something soothing that wraps around both of them. kags is floating on air.
+
kags feels his face heat up, but he nods again. he steps back but it’s too late, tsuki caught him by the shirt and drags him close, closer, too close.
kags would be lying if he said he’d never dreamt of this, but none of his dreams felt quite like this.
+
“i’m using what i have,” kags fires back.
for a second tsuki just looks at him, perfectly still as if kageyama never released his binds. “all you have?” tsuki asks.
confused, kags nods.
tsuki smiles in a way that kags shouldn’t like. “everything?”
+
you haven’t won against me a single time.”
despite this, tsuki remains calm. his face reveals nothing and kags feels the urge to punch him. he only hold back because he knows the energy flickering across his fingers could kill tsuki.
“you’ve used magic every time,” tsuki responds.
+
tsuki glances down at his feet, still firmly rooted in place, and stretches his arms above his head, not flustered in the slightest.
kags stands between tsuki and the stupid tree, obstructing his view of his precious dagger. “you say close combat is so important but
+
as if kageyama isn't right in front of him.
the lack of reaction frustrates kageyama more than anything else they’ve done in this stupid month of combat training. more energy crackles on his hands as his anger rises, but he releases almost all of the binds on tsuki.
+
he uses his magic to pry the dagger from tsuki’s unwilling fingers, embedding it into the trunk of a nearby tree with more force than was strictly necessary.
tsuki’s eyes follow the dagger’s flight path, landing on the tree with a disappointed frown. his gaze stays there,
+
holds a bit of the blue energy coating tsuki’s skin, letting it fall back into place like sand slipping through his fingers. “is temporary isn’t it?” he says lightly.
kags’ voice takes on a darker tone. “You've said it yourself. my focus breaks and i'm done for.”
+
kags feigns contemplation. “well,” he taps the edge of the cut on his neck, cringing slightly when he feels the scab that’s already forming. “this is permanent, and this,” he reaches out and
+
he glances down at the dagger still locked in tsuki’s fist. “i don’t even have weapons.”
looking back at tsuki, he smiles and leans in closer. “you can’t call that a fair fight.”
“and this is?” tsuki says quietly, mindful of the shrinking distance between them.
+
tsuki pulls in a few deep breaths, exhausted. “this was a close combat exercise,” he manages to say. the whirring of the generator powering the teleporter makes it hard to hear him. “you knew that from the start.”
kags shrugs. “i fought you as well as i could, and this was just a last resort.”
+
the blue glow on tsuki brightens significantly before sharply pulling him backwards.
kags lets it be when tsuki is right at the edge, the blue of his power diminishing back to its original brightness, overpowered by the pink that’s now directly behind tsuki.
+
as if emphasizing his point, part of the ground nearby glows a vibrant pink, highlighting the teleporter trap they should’ve been trying to push each other towards this whole time. kags stretches his arms out in front of him and
+
kags tilts his head innocently. “why not?” there’s a sadistic glint in his eyes as he sees tsuki trying not to shiver from the chill of his power. “i got you where i wanted, haven’t i?”
+
they both know he could hear tsuki perfectly fine.
“you can’t always rely on your magic,” tsuki says plainly. he’s settled on anger, all of the confusion from moments ago completely gone.
+
maybe kageyama is insane but he swears tsuki is even more beautiful this way.
threat neutralized, kags comes back to tsuki, close enough that he can hear him grumbling about how this wasn’t the point of this exercise.
“what was that?” kags asks even though
+
he directs it to hold tsuki’s body in place as he backs away. the faint blue glow shining off of tsuki’s skin is almost uncanny but kags can’t help the grin on his face.
tsuki shakes his head slightly, confusion and irritation contorting his features.
+
he asks, looking up through his bangs. “everything.”
surprise flickers across tsuki’s face and kags takes his chance to knock his legs out from under him. it’s not as clean as he would like but it gets tsuki to stumble, which is all kags needs.
kags can feel energy crackling between his palms &
+
awe that tsuki is willing to push him this far, and he’s sure tsuki can feel it, sure tsuki knows how he feels. “how much would you give up?”
kags tucks his chin, offering his heart a rest and creating a gap between the cool metal of tsuki’s dagger and his overheated skin. “for you?”
+
he smiles, its a cruel thing. the pressure on kags’ throat increases a fraction, the absolute limit before it punctures his skin. “would you talk after this much?” kags can feel a drop of blood trickle down his throat. his pulse jumps again, a mixture of fear for his life and
+
tsuki has no clue what he’s thinking, tsuki does have both of his wrists locked in his other hand to keep kags from fighting back, so he must’ve felt the change in kags’ heartbeat.
tsuki scoffs. “is that all it takes?” he practically whispers, face only inches away from kageyama’s.
+
trying to slow his breathing.
tsuki’s eyes narrow, slits of flashing gold, and for a traitorous second kageyama thinks he’s beautiful. the dust, sweat, and blood on his face only seem to add to the effect as he scowls down at kageyama.
kags’ pulse quickens, and though

kageyama’s boot dug into the side of tsuki’s ribs a few minutes ago, so how did they get here?
kags pinned against the dirty wall of the walled off training ground, forced to look tsuki in the eye to keep tsuki’s blade from digging into his skin,

how can kei not, when kageyama silently hands him a jacket that’s too big for himself?
how can tobio not, when tsukishima quickly pulls out a pen or two for him before he even asks?
they don’t say it, but they love and they feel loved; isn’t that enough?
(end)
they’ve never been the best with words. and how can either of them say i love you when they never even said thank you for anything they’d done for each other?
kageyama tobio loves tsukishima kei. tsukishima kei loves kageyama tobio. they don’t say it, but they feel it.
+
for tsukishima, tobio holds onto hairties (“put them on your frames so they hold onto your ears”). he brings an extra jacket that just happens to be tsukishima’s size (“it fits me weird anyway”).
neither of them say it.
+
but he doesn’t let it show.
tobio may not be the most observant but he still notices. he sees the way tsukishima gets irritated when his glasses refuse to stay put. he hears him huff quietly when they all walk home together, shivering from the cold but too stubborn to admit it.

short #tkkg / #tsukikage thread cuz i wanted to be sappy and they are an acts of service couple

tsukishima kei is chapped lips and sly smirks and shirts that hang too loose and not long enough on his gangly sixteen year old body but tobio loves him anyway.
tsukishima worries about all this,
