Meet Mackenzie Bly (not his real name; see back cover).
I wanted to write something purely funny, but fell in love with my lead character along the way.
It's out in August, but the lovely proofs, with cover by Jim Kay, have just arrived.
Repost before tomorrow (Sun) evening, and I'll pick a winner.
I am completely addicted to this game.

Yes - Mum knew it off by heart as well!

Same tree by daylight. The blossoming branches are in the shape of a vast smile.
I keep stopping to admire this magnificent cherry - itβs one tree, not two and the trunk is to the far left (the thin βtrunkβ in the middle is a downward-dipping branch). Itβs a cloud of glory!

I recently finished a 3-month project transcribing letters and documents for an IWM / DCMS project marking the 80th anniversary of VE / VJ Day.
It was a moving and fascinating project.
Here are some of my lessons from the Letters to Loved Ones archive and links to letters I think you should read.
Oh thank you - how fascinating! I've bookmarked and will explore....

Happy St David's Day - and here's an absolutely gorgeous, emotional rendition of 'Calon LΓ’n' (though I feel slightly sorry for the excited family, waiting for their kid's big telly moment, who discovered their child was dressed as a leek).

Donβt need any sympathy, but I do need a few quid in this crowdfunder so itβs all worth it. I finally get to work on the largest rewilding project in Bath, a place Iβve always called home, on a River that really needs a hand. I just want this to work. www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/warleigh-n...

If I were a lifestyle writer, I'd say 'See how winter aconite adds a much-needed POP of colour to the February garden.' but fortunately I'm not, and all style-related mentions of the word 'pop' are forbidden on my timeline.
Instead, I'm going to comment what a lovely BRIGHT YELLOW they are.
The sort of review I'd like to pin on the wall!

On April 19th I'm in Winchester, in conversation with the brilliant
Claire Fuller, about my book 'Small Bomb at Dimperley'. I'm hoping to get some really left-field and tricky questions - the stuff that comes up at book club meetings! Do come!!
