04.02.2026 19:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Any opinion I developed later about Genesis fans being more wild loose and crazy came from the fact that the genesis port of Mortal Kombat had blood in it.
04.02.2026 15:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Haha nope, not bait. That's all I had. If anything I could say that the Sega families I knew had kids that were too young when Nintendo came out and hadn't developed any brand loyalty so got a Sega. As a physical organic chemist I wouldn't know about the second thing ;)
04.02.2026 15:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I feel like in the early 90s I could tell who was a Sega family vs a Nintendo family, the same way I can tell an organic from a physical chemist, without broaching either subject directly

07.01.2026 01:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0To go into the weeds a bit, a hemoglobin electrophoresis showed that I am still expressing something like 20% fetal hemoglobin which apparently isn't uncommon. I've read that heterozygous folks for sickle cell trait tend not to have episodes if they have even higher expression of the fetal gene.
07.01.2026 01:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I knew I was heterozygous for the sickle cell trait, but figured an event was really low probability based on my sleuthing of the medical literature so I did the Machu Picchu hike anyway. I had a splenic infarct on the hike.
