something crucial is that the tems song also has the syncopated percussion forming a bed of texture, which you def see in 3step. and it also really emphasizes the beats even at the higher tempo. still remains breezy. the translation to this pop form is cool; “mine” even gets in a 2-stepish zone

thinking about how i personally dance to “big daddy” seems revealing too; so much closer to all the SA 3step. even “young again,” which is def the closest thing, doesn’t seem to emphasize the 3 kicks for me to dance the same way… more like a continuous drifting bobbing as if it were almost 4x4

thx for this. i asked the question about the tems song to dave initially lol. i was aware of some of what’s in your playlist but the non-remix stuff esp feels more removed from 3step than “big daddy,” whose feel and even intention of the beat w/ lyrics is aligned with 3step even if it’s firmly pop

obviously that may change with time but this isn’t currently a helpful tool for me. for example, i enjoy searching up what people in south africa are saying about the most popular south african songs rn but there are literally zero posts about that on this site. japanese users not here either

main thing about this app is that i primarily see english-language users, and even within that camp, it’s still mostly people in western countries. a big reason i use twitter is to see what people around the world are saying about music, among other things.

what did they show?

i’m ok with the tenuous nature of it. i’ve had too many hard drives die where at this point im like ok well at least it’s a thing that is maybe searchable in the future. downloaded the archive of my account tho at least

i can’t delete my tweets because i use the account as an archive (i often post things because im too lazy to bookmark them or save them in a google doc or word document; i also post concert videos so i don’t have to save them on my phone lol)
