Endless wars get unlimited funds. Meanwhile, politicians tell us food assistance is too costly, housing support is too pricey, and Medicare for All is too expensive. Tupac was right.

We just asked Cora where he’s taking Suarez and he says the bet was 10 pitches or less, not 11.

I dunno, sounds like Ranger might need to file a grievance of some kind.

I’m talking a Peterson-type at Jasper’s position. And I thought one of the major calling cards for Pope was going to be how attractive his pro-style offense would be to recruits. It’s baffled me — that they haven’t locked up a no-doubt 1-and-done. But I agree, a whole class of them doesn’t work.

It depends on if Mayer makes the team out of camp. But if he does, you’ve got a very solid infield defense. I’d even say it’s good! And then the outfield with Roman, Rafaela and Wilyer is one of the best in baseball. We ain’t leading no league in errors.

The one caveat to that is 2020 would have broken that streak.

Obviously some of those weren’t attainable, and Wilson got hurt. But in retrospect, missing on Wilson followed by Ament resulted in Jelavic. I just think they are a no doubt Sweet 16 team with either of them.

They did that w/ 1 exception. Moreno/Jasper/Hawthorne were the multi-yr HS prospects, retained Oweh/Garrison/Chandler/Noah, cleaned up in portal (all got hurt and/or didn’t fit together). But would be so much different w/ 1 lottery pick — Ament, Wilson, Acuff, Peterson, Cenac, Dybantsa, Boozer etc.

I think that’s exactly what I said: 1-2 elite HS talent, retain 2-3 of your core from previous yr, compliment with 2-3 impact transfers. What I left unsaid was you’re probably recruiting 2+ HS kids who are longterm developments to fill out the roster. But it’s a tightrope bc you might lose to portal

You’re right, but that’s not any solace. I can be rational. But I also can expect a standard that seeds under 3 are not good no matter what season it is. If everyone else is better this year, why isn’t UK? Roster management. Get a great GM, then, and have a better plan.

Fully transparent: I only got to watch the last 12 minutes yesterday bc I was working. But it is encouraging. I just never doubted he could coach. I was sold after he predicted the play Duke ran last yr when Flagg turned it over. Just not convinced yet he can recruit the level we need. Need a GM.

Exactly where I am. I like him, but haven’t like results this yr after being elated last yr. I liked the pieces he added both yrs, but they obv didn’t fit this yr. Next yr looks scary with no HS commits. I’d like a healthy mix of 1-2 5⭐️, 2-3 elite transfers, 2-3 impact retainers each yr. Must fit

What concerns me is recruiting and lack of elite talent that gets you to a Final Four. He’s been great in the portal even if the plan this offseason don’t work. But he also overspent everyone. If they can outspend, why can’t they get the right guys? If that lingers into 2027 or ’28 it will cost him.

I haven’t been out on Pope. I have held onto the fact he has out coached some of the best coaches in games he has been undermanned going back to last year. I’ve been very disappointed with how this roster was constructed. I can’t see him being fired, but also think he can coach and should get year 3

I inadvertently follow them closer than most other teams I’m not a fan of — Chaim Bloom, their new GM (technically President of Ops) was previously my favorite team’s (BOS) GM — and from the podcasts iI’ve listened to that reference StL, it sounds like fan discontent is at an all-time high.

The total amount of money that has gone to NASA since its inception is $1.8 trillion, by the way.

You could double NASA’s 2026 budget, give that amount of money to NASA for the next 25 years, and you still wouldn’t match $1.5 trillion.

The Reds have a similar package. One of my co-workers told me a few weeks about doing it last year. It’s select games — like not against popular opponents they sell out anyway.

I can’t imagine they offer season tickets with this package. This is specifically to target single-game patrons because their attendance is down.

I can’t tell if I want Caleb Durbin at second base because he’s short and Dustin Pedroia was short or if I just really liked Marcelo Mayer’s defense at third when Alex Bregman was hurt. Either way, fine with Durbin at either position.

I think it will boil down to who is Mayer’s RHH platoon partner. If that person is a better 3b, then Durbin will be at 2b. If that person is a better 2b, then Durbin will be at 3b.

My guess is it’s Monasterio, for now. I have no idea which position he fits better defensively.

Now this fucking idiot does it every 3-4 months. Every Republican president has engaged in war in the Middle East. When are the anti-left going to see it for what it is instead of believing the lies?

Wouldn't want a little war to get in the way of a golf weekend.

things every single republican president of your lifetime has done

- started a war in the middle east
- completely destroyed the economy

The President of the United States has joined forces with his Israeli counterpart, a genocidal butcher, to start a war with Iran—because he doesn’t want people to find out that he raped children.
