Good analogy, normalizing unambiguously bad stuff.

Yes, action speaks louder than words, in the sense that our initiatives are not "real" enough to make a change, thus people do not see value. I thought it was an interesting idea.

I was recently listening to this author's talk on the cyclical nature of similar issues historically: Why progressives may not be as 'woke' as they think | Ideas | On Demand | CBC Listen share.google/EcxbExRuStZE...

Gives some insight into the pushback imo.

You cannot have a functioning classroom under these conditions. As I've said before, classroom surveillance has been a much bigger and more damaging change to campus than wokeness.

A former student now medical student, Luke Duignan, published his Research In Medicine project (rare) on the potential substitution between frailty index and allostatic load. AL is a nice variable for considering the burden of SDoH in popns.

Fredericton's food rescue centre to be important piece of food insecurity puzzle | CBC News A perishable food rescue centre is under construction in Fredericton that could be a blueprint for others around the country to follow.

While this is a great initiative we know that downstream food provision does not address food insecurity in the population.

Housing and Support Intervention and Mortality Among Homeless Adults With Mental Illnesses This secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial assesses the association of a housing and support intervention with mortality among homeless adults with mental illnesses.

New article spearheaded by James LaChaud at Ohio State on the At Home/Chez Soi data. Estimated lower mortality in the HF group but not stat sig. My read on it is that in Canada we do a good job keeping people alive in the long run, but details here:

I have noticed that individuals who see their main contribution as agitation have trouble when it's time to push through a policy that might require respect for pre-existing process or compromise. "Activist" doing some heavy lifting here.

The academic pages of Reddit are full of stories of PhD students whose offers have been rescinded due to pulled NIH funding.

Western is stepping up and offering expedited admissions and excellent funding to these deserving students:

By embracing gate keeping it allows NDPers to act holier than thou and never have to grapple with the compromise required to govern. It seems like that is what party members and leadership want, so enough seats to hold influence in a minority is best case scenario. Is that incorrect?
