That photo from Dorothea Lange is so powerful--as are pretty much all of her photos. The book I mentioned includes that and several hundred other photos curated by Edward Steichen. There's no lack of info on it, but here is one tidbit that shares a few of the photos in the book.

BTW I love your profile pic. The Family of Man was a favorite book of mine growing up. I don’t know how many hours I spent staring at these photos, imagining their stories. Even as a child, I was so deeply moved.

I have Canadian and American citizenship, and haven’t explored elsewhere as I need healthcare that would be difficult to obtain even in those countries that welcome foreigners (Portugal, etc.).

I know someone whose distant relationship were Irish and she now has her passport for there. 😊 Just exploring options these days seems so important.

I’m bummed reading some of the comments here. Usually Bluesky has proved to be a less volatile platform where discussion is possible.
