The Pilot Kakuno is a top #fountainpen recommendation, especially for kiddos looking for their first pen. It's one of the few name brand pens available for under $15, has an excellent nib, and comes with a sturdy click cap that reduces the chances of inky accidents.

The Kaweco Skyline Sport #fountainpen was my very first pocket pen! The mint edition with Diamine's Soft Mint ink is a great combo! The cap threading keeps the pen firmly closed when jangling in pockets, but Kawecols a detachable clip if you're looking for more security!

The TWSBI 580AL is my most used #fountainpen. I often use it with Diamine Pumpkin. The fine nib is juicy and handles the thicker orange ink well, plus the clear pen barrel highlights the ink color. This larger pen has a nice heft and fits comfortably in larger hands.

The Lamy Vista is an excellent starter #fountainpen and one of my very firsts! I love demonstrators (clear pens) for newbies, because it's easy to see exactly how things work. The Vista is reliable, affordable, and has a super comfortable triangular grip.
