Suppose a trans person gets their “corrected” license. They now have ID that doesn’t match how they present themselves. Even with a matching photo and signature, it isn’t hard to imagine them being turned away at the polls. Another right denied.

Yes, it functions as a distraction, but it also matters. Rights denied to some are not securely held by anyone. And state-issued ID is required to vote in Kansas.

I live in a swing state. I won’t risk a third-party vote. The democratic nominee will have my support and my vote. Making a point with a third-party candidate is a luxury reserved to the deep blue states.

I’m with you. There are a lot of potential candidates I like better than Newsom and I’m sure at least one of them will be running in the primary. However, the winner of the primary will have my wholehearted support in the general election. That’s how the primary process works, right?
