TBT to last week’s first-ever hearing of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood Education.

Early childhood providers - overwhelmingly women of color - are the backbone of this system. Yet too many are paid poverty wages & forced to work 2nd and 3rd jobs.

We have to stop paying women less to do more.

Big 2-K updates! Mayor Mamdani and Gov. Hochul just announced the first four communities that will get 2,000 free 2-K child care seats for two-year-olds this fall - a major step toward universal free child care across the city.

In honor of Black History Month, it was a privilege to recognize Joseph Baptiste with a citation for his outstanding service. For over two years at St. Nicks Alliance, Joseph has focused on bringing people together, supporting residents, and building stronger neighborhood connections.

I went out and handed flyers in the areas affected by the Meeker Ave.

The plume conditions can be serious, but the free mitigation systems help keep homes safe once testing is done. Fill out the request form or call EPA Remedial Project Manager John Brennan at (212) 637-3881 to schedule your test.

At today's Stated Meeting, the City Council passed my first bill this session to bring real transparency to Early Childhood Education payments - so providers and policy makers can see where they stand, families can trust the system, and classrooms can stay open and staffed.

I spoke with @Gothamist about the indictment of a former NYPD official and what it means for public contracting in NYC.

During my time as Chair of the Council’s Tech Cmte, I pushed for stronger oversight of how tech contracts are awarded and monitored.

Universal child care isn’t just a promise, it’s a path.

On March 2 at 10AM, the NYC Council’s Subcommittee on Early Childhood Education is holding an oversight hearing on the path to Universal Child Care — and we need to hear from parents, providers, educators, and advocates.

Proud to be featured in The New Yorker alongside leaders fighting to make universal childcare a reality. Since my first day in office, I’ve been pushing for a system that works for families, educators, and our city. This is what progress looks like - and we’re just getting started!

Last week, I visited Upway in the IBZ in my district to see their e-bike refurbishing operation firsthand. Upway extends the life of e-bikes while creating local jobs and strengthening our industrial sector. This is forward-thinking, sustainable manufacturing we’re proud to support in our district!
