It made me feel like he wants project an image of being cool and “nonchalant” when refusing to be called by your name is more pretentious than pronouncing it as a French name in the first place.

“Someone once said” followed by a very surface level take is social media’s modern equivalent to these relics of the 2000s-2010s

Monsters Inc
Ratatouille
Turning Red
The Incredibles
I probably watch each of these at least once a year
What even is the point of this 😭 sometimes people really need to get another hobby. Which is insane, because bb is already the hobby for people without anything to do in the summer 😅

#9. Brown Girls by Daphne Palasi Andreades
4 ⭐️ Literary Fiction
Reading Brown Girls in the US in 2026 felt more relevant than ever. There’s a very unique style that I’ve only seen in two other books. I appreciated the collective POV— it showed the common threads between these girls through life.
#8. It Came From The Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror by Various
3.5 ⭐️ Anthology, Essays, Horror
Some of the essays hit really hard and none of them are terrible. I loved the consistent thematic connections and often felt myself evaluating my queer experiences in relation to horror.
#7. Well, Actually by Mazey Eddings
3 ⭐️ Romance, Spicy
The characters were often frustrating, but the spicy scenes were hot 🥵 I love Eddings sense of voice, but I just felt the relationship felt kind of weak, and the fmc was so difficult to root for.
#6. Tuesdays With Morrie
4 ⭐️ nonfiction
Tuesdays With Morrie is a quiet and reflexive book that tugs at the heart strings. The life lessons aren’t entirely unique but the way that they are delivered gives each lesson a strong impact.
I’ll admit it— I cried.
#5. Rouge by Mona Awad
5 ⭐️ Literary Fiction, Horror
Awad’s work is always intimidating and it always ends up being my favorite thing. This was so beautiful and haunting and strange. Rouge is the nightmarish fairytale of Awad’s fever dreams.
#4. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
5⭐️
All Hail Queen Austen,
Seriously, one of the best authors. This one is a classic for a reason
#3. Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid
1 ⭐️ contemporary retelling
This book pained me to rate low. I wanted so badly to like it. The writing style is pretty good, but Lady Macbeth is completely defanged throughout. Good for readers not attached to Macbeth
