Die ganze erdzugewandte Seite der Sonne in gelber Farbe. Übrigens: Der Erde zugewandt, weil der Satellit nur 35000 Kilometer über der Erde ist, während die Sonne 150 Millionen Kilometer von uns entfernt ist. Aber jetzt zum Bild: Auf der Oberfläche sind mehrere sogenannte Aktive Regionen heller dargestellt. Von ihnen gehen strahlenförmige Strukturen weit in die Umgebung aus. Besonders spektakulär ist das links oben am Rand, wo das wie ein gewaltiger Fächer aus Licht aussieht, und etwas weniger heftig rechts unten. Auffällig ist auch ein dunklerer länglicher Streifen, der sich ganz unten quer über die Sonne zieht. Das ist weniger heißer Materie, die hier etwas über der übrigen Oberfläche wabert. Solche ruhenden Protuberanzen halten sich oft wochenlang, wie es hier auch der Fall ist (hatten wir vor einigen Tagen schon beobachtet und erklärt).
