The Myth of Allied Technological Inferiority World War II, The Free Press, and the Problematic Use of History in Contemporary Media

America didnโ€™t win WWII through โ€œinferior tech," it won through organization, integration, and strategy, as well as the myth that Nazi Germanyโ€™s โ€œexquisiteโ€ weapons outclassed the Allies, and critiques how the media keeps misusing history to sound profound. My latestโฌ‡๏ธ

The Alan Keyes Constant How Alan Keyes's substantial--but not 100 percent total--loss to Barack Obama--explains the world, or at least birthers and the sudden political popularity of Donald Trump.

The general expectation among US elite culture is that the broad catch all of "liberals"--urban dwellers, minorities, women, LGBTQ ppl, etc--are expected to eat unending amounts of shit from "real" Americans while a) not complaining and b) still financially supporting them but without holding power

At the risk of living in a society, they're like the Joker in "The Killing Joke". They let themselves become monsters as a trauma response, and they think everyone else is equally weak-spirited and corruptible. They cannot fathom that some people will not debase themselves so easily.

A graphic reporting: fewest homicides in London since monthly records began. The number of homicides in London between January to September 2025 is the lowest in the first 9 months of any year since monthly records began in 2003.

Some politicians and commentators continue to denigrate London and talk our great city down, but the facts show a very different picture.

The number of homicides in London in the first nine months of 2025 was lower than in any year since monthly records began 22 years ago.

The voluntary illiteracy of executive decision-makers is an underrated part of how we got here.

Information comes through to them by meetings instead of written reports (which they seldom read much, if any, of), and they operate chiefly on rumor and vibe rather than any sort of hard info.

It's very funny that the people saying "hey kids, it's cool and good to shine lasers at aircraft flying over populated areas" today are the same people who said a couple of weeks ago that anyone who gives Indivisible their email address is getting black-bagged for sure.

The problem with this discourse is that it reveals something that nobody with a stake in their own academic or professional discipline wants to own up to, which is there is no particular educational paradigm that automatically makes you a good person

It is not something that can be conquered nor a problem to be solved.

Society as a collective project is endless maintenance of a vast engine that, left to its own devices, will tear itself apart under its own forces and is beset by an adversary that lurks in the hearts of all men.

Almost every former Ottoman territory claims some variation of a chopped salad using cucumbers & tomatoes as their own, despite tomatoes likely not reaching the region until the 19th century.

And I find that fascinating.

If cultural appropriation is specifically referring to directly stealing another person's creative product and profiting off of it, that is a legitimate concern. But a lot of people go beyond that and imagine some sort of "pure" culture untainted by cultural interchange. Which is deeply reactionary!

Campaign as hard as you want, give as good of a debate performance as you want, run on the best record you possibly can, your fate is still always going to be in the hands of a guy who decided his vote based on the color of his belly button lint.

Everyone knows at least one person (normally, but not exclusively, a guy) whose gone properly mental due to net rabbit holes.

We see public figures regularly go mad and destroy themselves.

And we have, at a policy level, just decided to put our fingers in our ears and go nahnahnah

Like, we really should not ignore how impactful the Epstein angle has been on this entire saga. Mike Johnson running away from a vote on releasing the Epstein files is making it significantly more difficult for Congress to do the most basic aspects of its job in a moment of deep national crisis.

a key thing about vought โ€” and all of these guys โ€” is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they canโ€™t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

This sums up what I was trying to get at with my criticism of Klein, although much better written. There is a reason Arendt is a celebrated philosopher and I am not.

But Klein is courting the convinced at the expense of the truth, which will doom us all! Criticism of him is warranted.
