It's amusing how much licence can be taken with the look of films for promotional purposes.
Lucky Lady (1975) was shot through very thick lens diffusion, giving the daytime scenes a stylish, hazy, low contrast look, but the unit photos were all taken clean.
RIP film and TV director Jonathan Kaplan.
In addition to an amazing career, he recommended writer Charlie Haas to pen Gremlins 2, directed by his friend Joe Dante. The character Sheila Futterman refers to a "Dr. Kaplan" in one moment of the film.

Last nights Oasis concert had opening acts that were a show in their own right. Cast, featuring soul icon PP Arnold on stage, and then Richard Ashcroft, stadium reflected in his glasses, projecting Bittersweet Symphony across Wembley as the soaring anthem that it is.

I do think Oliver & Company, which Midler performed in, was as close a Disney animated musical could get to an '80s Touchstone movie.
Billy Williams discusses working with and photographing Bette Midler on Stella, but I think he is melding his memories with The Lottery as well, given that he's recalling it was straight after Beaches.

The fun short film The Lottery, which Midler made for the Disney MGM park, feels very much in line with her Touchstone movies. It's directed by Beaches Garry Marshall and shot by Billy Williams who would shoot Stella straight after.

40 years ago today, the Skycam cable-suspended camera system was being used to record Live Aid above JFK stadium.
Check out the aerial shots from Madonna's portion of the concert.
The system was used memorably a year later on the movie Highlander.

It's the most dramatic part of the video, as Tiffany plays sidewalk chicken & wins against an oncoming pedestrian. An unusual moment to put in a completely (& very uniquely) unscripted looking music promo, too!
Sidewalk chicken must be a thing there, as it also happens in the Beastmaster II clip.
To celebrate Back to the Future turning 40, here is the 1985 Jellybean Benitez 12" extended mix of The Power Of Love, by Huey Lewis And The News.
The original mix is a classic, but if you want every element savoured & spread out over 7 minutes, it's perfection.
