We had heavy rain in this part of Kirikiriroa-Hamilton, even torrential rain for a little while, and a few strong wind gusts, but nothing else (havenโt heard any reports of anything bad in the rest of the city, not like the โmini tornadoโ in the previous storm).

A recent study found that for every $1 invested in the National Weather Service, it produces $73 in value to Americans.
Not only is the NWS a life-saving government resource, it's actually quite efficient.

We can't. We need answers.

Facebookโs secrets, by the insider Zuckerberg tried to silence
Careless People author and former Meta director Sarah Wynn-Williams reveals what it was like โbabysittingโ her boss
โShe describes [Zuckerberg] as a cross between a truculent teen and a toddler: he doesnโt like to get up before midday, even to meet prime ministers, and his obsequious colleagues feel obliged to let him beat them at board games.โ
Sigh. The tech bros are all the same.

One thing Trump didn't talk about last night: his plans to abandon American womenโs right to abortion care in medical emergencies.
I wonder why he wouldn't want anyone to know that.

In Oversight today, my colleagues stuck to their usual script: blaming immigrants for all crime & claiming Dem mayors are too soft. Well, I was curious to know if theyโve ever had an immigrant with a criminal record that they could recall. Tune in!

Etymology of the day: โbookโ comes from an ancient root shared by โbeechโ, a wood that people used for engraving inscriptions. โPaperโ comes from โpapyrusโ, and โvolumeโ is from the Latin for a โrollโ of parchment.
Happy World Book Day.

Donald Trump promised he wouldn't cut Medicaid.
This week, his friends in DC voted for a bill that would leave 3.4 million Illinoisans, including 1.4 million children, in the dust.
Another middle finger to working families and the most vulnerable in our state.

So increasing the minimum wage to a livable wage is โsocialismโ?
But Amazon union busting, keeping wages low, and forcing workers onto public assistance while its founder increases his net worth by $7.9M an hour is the "free market"?
Perhaps this could be a WaPo opinion piece.

Yep. Sourcing facts is harder now that the regime has taken down government statistics and reports. Also, the legacy media, for all its many faults, DOES do some good work, like the NYTโs recent reporting on President Elonโs extensive conflicts of interest and his actions that benefit his companies.

I agree. But legacy media isnโt presenting facts, it ignores crimes in progress and the regimeโs clear corruption (especially relating to President Elon), while it sane-washes the convicted felon. Theyโre like the dog in the โeverythingโs fineโ meme: Everythingโs on fire and they pretend itโs not.

LOL, no! Youโre clearly in search of truth and value facts (me, too). The point Iโm making is just that we all need to demand better of those who say they present facts. The legacy media has utterly failed us, and we need to demand better. Thatโs really all there is to it!

ONLY the convicted felon has a kingโs immunity, thanks to the Republican Supreme Court. The felon can pardon the others, if they bribe him enough (also OK, says the Supreme Court), but they have no immunity unless the God-King pardons them. No one other than His Majesty the King has immunity.

I donโt disagree with much of thatโI used to be an activist way back when. BUT I also know legacy media is owned by corporations whose interest is NOT facts, but what promotes the interests of the corporations that own them. โFactsโ are what promotes corporate interests, NOT truth.
