Decades of research have found that acetaminophen is safe for children when administered as recommended. Misleading claims link the medicine to autism. These false claims send a dangerous message to parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals. www.aap.org/en/news-room...

In the center, there is a badge of the 2025 polyphosphate in biology conference. It has the dates of the conference (May 20-23, 2025), a logo showing the phosphate groups of polyphosphate and the name and affiliation of the attendee (Constanza Torres-Paris, the Scripps Research Institute). The back ground is the hallway of the North Quad at the Univerity of Michigan.

In the uncertain times we live as scientists in the US, a conference feels like an oasis. I am very grateful to have attended the 2025 conference on Polyphosphate Biology. We
shared great science with an amazing international community. Looking forward to keep nerding about polyP with y’all!

Quick science query: These 2D classes are from negative stain of

I think that day care is part of the Scripps hospital. Scripps Research employees almost never find spots for their children. Somehow we are not allowed to have our own on our side of campus, which is insane.

I like the 985. It’s a short, efficient route from the trolley to the Torrey Pines Mesa. Runs every 15 min on rush hour only, always clean, punctual and has sitting spots. It is faster than the NCTD bus that serves the area (101, frequency of a bus per hour). I wish all bus routes had this frequency

How a PhD student’s lab size affects their chance of future academic success Trainees in big research groups tend to go on to greater academic success than their small-group counterparts ― but are more likely to quit academia altogether.

Postdoctoral students, graduate students and other junior scientists in large research groups are more likely to drop out of academia than are their peers in smaller groups, says a study of more than one million early-career researchers.

As some of us go out to Stand Up for Science today, we should be aware and cognizant of folks who cannot make it today, either due to concerns about immigration status or due to accessibility reasons. If we can make it then we are doing it for them too. they are with us in their hearts.

On Friday, I will #standupforscience2025 because, as a daughter of an oncologist, I have witnessed how dramatically the NIH-funded research has improved my mother’s patient’s chances in only 30 years. Most of them used to die when she started. The NIH brings them hope. Let’s save science!

We need leaders that believe in scientific evidence In a world beset by attempts to undermine scientific evidence and evidence-based policy, we emphasize their important role in helping humanity rise to the challenges of our time.

In 2025, we continue to advocate for policy based on scientific evidence. This 2020 Editorial, β€œWe need leaders that believe in scientific evidence”, resonates today as loudly as ever: plos.io/34lyl59. PLOS Biology also continues to push for DEI and a diverse scientific community:
