There is a new Chotiner interview that really underscores what is unique about Israel's genocide in Gaza: it would be very easy for the world to stop it if only a few countries wanted to.

This is overt, premeditated, and on-going genocide.

Red Plenty Games haven't made the move over here yet, but I'm happy to report we completed the game Cooperation Nelson, put it in a box and handed it over. Even better we recently got a little bit of funding to transform it into a a more generic game that can be adjusted for any town or city.

Any politics that wants to democratise society and the economy, that wants to give people control over their lives has to develop the democratic capacities of those participating. This means open, democratic and collective deliberation of strategy. Discuss ideas reject gossip.

Whenever you catch yourself excited by political gossip or conspiracy theorising you should pause and question yourself. Are you being animated by the incentive systems built into social media? Have you failed to break with the mode of politics fostered by the mainstream media?โ€ฆ

Political journalism tends to reduce politics to personal gossip. The algorithms of social media reward outrage and scandal mongering. Taken together they create modes of behaviour and thought that are the opposite of those we need to build institutions of mass solidarityโ€ฆ

โ€˜Climateflationโ€™ could push up UK food prices by more than a third by 2050, report says Exclusive: Increasingly extreme weather a threat to production and supply chains in Britain and elsewhere

Under the ever worsening conditions of climate change we can no longer afford the needs of private capital dominating our food systems and we can no longer afford the oligarchs it creates undermining democracy.

The report argues that Englandโ€™s council farm estate is an ideal starting point for a wider transformation of Britainโ€™s food system away from ecologically destructive โ€˜conventional farmingโ€™ methods, towards socially & ecologically regenerative systems rooted in the principles of food sovereignty 4/4

To meet biodiversity and climate targets, we need a transition towards agroecological food production in Britain.

But how?

The roots of the British malaise lie in a sick economy Political responses to a bad situation tend towards either charlatanism or timidity

Martin Wolf: According to the IMF, the trend growth of GDP per head in the UK had been 2.5 per cent a year from 1990 to 2007: then, between 2008 and 2025, it was just 0.7 per cent. on.ft.com/4lf4OyV The roots of the British malaise lie in a sick economy

He's right.
But also: this was exactly how some of us warned the Terrorism Act 2000 would be used when it was passed, by the government in which Peter Hain was a minister. He and all the others either ignored or dismissed our warnings. It's very frustrating.

Should we prioritise ensuring water is used to irrigate fields for crops

Should we prioritise ensuring water is used to irrigate fields for crops ...or for cooling data centres?

Thames Water might soon be brought into a Special Administration Regime, but public ownership alone wonโ€™t fix a system rigged for private profit.

Without real social control, we risk repeating the same mistakes.
