As for Gavin Newsom, his signature move to strip minimal cash aid from the homeless, in addition to punishing the poor, sent way more money into the hands of the hotel industry — a sector his Getty-backed PlumpJack Group was active in — and SF's notoriously corrupt shelter orgs for not much result.

TCI went bankrupt in 1971 after what the Sacramento District Attorney called "the biggest stock fraud in California history".
