Facilitation isn't defined in the statute and this opinion doesn't define it either. Thus, Paxton could say that even using pronouns that align with a trans youth's identity or a chosen name could be facilitation. The ambiguity is a weapon to create fear.

Even if a provider didn't "facilitate," no rational provider would ever take a trans youth patient on for fear of being accused of "facilitation" being investigated and losing their license.

5 years ago, there were multiple gender clinics in Texas with large multidisciplinary teams of experts and supportive infrastructure for trans youth to not only survive but thrive. All of that has been completely stripped away in a campaign of hate. They don't want us to exist.

This is ultimately about creating the conditions where it is impossible for trans youth to exist, a world that discards them and isolates them from any sort of social support. In short, they want trans kids to kill themselves.

The goal of this is to cut off trans youth from any sort of support. Therapists will be afraid to take on trans youth as patients for fear of investigations or losing their licenses. Parents will fear child abuse investigations.
