I don’t necessarily mind, as I’d much prefer this over running old extreme trials blind (and yes, it would be blind, given I did most unsynced and the ones I didn’t, I’ve only done once, as a sprout, four years ago). On the flip side, some more variety would be nice, though.

Ran 8 mentor roulettes today and 5 of them were endgame dungeons, once again. The others were Aurem, Athena, and a guildhest. Mentor roulette is apparently just expert/level cap roulette in disguise on Aether. #FFXIV

Or, they have, but they were born after the game had been out for some time and are making the error of judging it with a modern lens. Objectively, there have been many better games released since, but arguably 95% of those wouldn’t exist in the form they do without OoT.

If it was a native player, I’d be right there with you, but occasionally the game stream will have some artifacting when there’s a dip in connection or a lot going on in the game, plus the latency. For what it is, it’s fantastic. Works way better than I’d have honestly expected it to.

To steal a phrase from Expedition 33, Ocarina of Time is the epitome of “for those who come after”. This game laid the groundwork and continues to define what the foundation of a 3D adventure game should be. It’s one of the most important games of all time and certainly in the convo for best.

In regards to the Portal, specifically, it now can be played without needing a PS5, if you get/have PS+ premium. It’s not 1:1 with a native experience, but for many games, the latency is low enough that it’s not a hindrance and sometimes isn’t noticeable at all. Depends on intensity of the game.

I still need to play the first one. I have the complete edition on Xbox, but never have gotten around to playing it.

If you’ve been on the fence about getting one, I’d also recommend the Switch 2. It’s far more capable than the original switch and it does improve performance for virtually all switch 1 games. Significantly so, in games with patches.

Don’t mind a little latency? PS portal is a nice alternative.

If you’re a fan of RPGs, I highly suggest grabbing Metaphor, Expedition 33, or Outer Worlds during these Black Friday sales. Ideally all 3, if you don’t have them yet and can afford to get them. They’re legitimately 3 of the greatest games ever made.

It’s nearly impossible to play through a Hildi scenario and not have a big grin on your face the entire time.

My defining console is different based on the console generation/period of my life. However, the consoles that got me into gaming are the NES, Genesis, and Gameboy. Super Nintendo is what locked me in, though, despite not actually having one of my own until later in life.

My hoodie and shirt came in today from the PlayStation gear shop and they’re honestly higher quality than I expected, although given the original prices, I probably shouldn’t be as surprised as I am. Got the hoodie for $15 and the shirt for $5. Deals are great, but you will have to pay shipping.

If anything, it should be the other way around. It frequently was, last generation. Now that they have the majority hooked on digital, they can afford to price things however they want. Especially since each platform has a monopoly on digital games within their own ecosystem.

I personally couldn’t really get into the game and therefore didn’t enjoy it, but I do think $35 is a great price if it’s a game you think you’d enjoy. This is only the second time I’ve ever seen it this cheap.

On PC, yes, but on console, that’s rarely the case unless a game is half a decade old or more, or sold poorly. PC also generally has several ways to get a game for $5-$20 off right at launch.

I think what bothers me the most, is that the casual audience doesn’t seem to care. They just sit around like a bunch of circus seals clapping away, while these corporations metaphorically clap away at their cheeks.

Prime example of what I was referring to in my last post. When it comes to sales, it’s extremely common this generation for the physical copies to be $10 cheaper than digital. It’s not particularly rare for that gap to be even larger.

I’m trying to warm up to the idea of buying more digital games, but outside of last gen titles or games that didn’t sell as well as the publisher wanted, the “sale” prices for most digital games are straight up ass. Especially compared to the prices you can get the same games physically.

If there’s one thing about console gaming this generation that pisses me straight the fuck off, it’s the price of digital games taking forever to match the sale prices you can find on the physical editions, if they ever do. It’s even more frustrating knowing gaming will go all digital eventually.

Final Fantasy XIV is their main focus, as it honestly should be, but it would be really nice if they’d port FF XI to modern consoles. The game should be available on PS4/5, Xbox One/Series, and Switch 1 & 2. It would obviously run just fine.
