Caravan was one those cool little games where you play and it's utterly incomprehensible until you've done it five or six times and then suddenly it comes into focus and you understand it

Yeah, I never finished watching "Chuck", and considering there's now a double-dose of nope based on who stars in it, I doubt I ever will

There was an episode of "Max Headroom" in the 80s that was exactly this - a church that promises loved ones would live on digitally to converse with you, that were just really simple programs

An homage to Thieves World!

The Highlander movie was hugely popular with drama students at my high school, and one of them convinced me to watch Highlander 2 with them. After it was over, they admitted they hadn't seen it and just assumed "it would be as good as the first one".

Ah yes, Richard Moll as the Kurgen! The show managed to even have a spinoff. And as long as Highlander 2 exists, it will never be the worst Highlander

Oh, it ended a high-level campaign I was running - the players just waded into combat and traps relying on their "only fail a save on a one" but they bitterly complained I was destroying their magic items when they waded into dragonfire

Actually, I had forgotten Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines - that came out in 2004!

I was going to say the Witcher video game, which also came out in 2007; you get "collectible cards" of your conquests.

It must be a coincidence, considering that he was born six years after this, but I immediately thought of Mythos author Richard Tierney

Ah, but they came back in Paizo's final issue of Dragon Magazine to do just that!

I remember that were some 'preview' videos of F:NV released before the game - one where E-DE is cruising along and gets shot, and another with Vic digging the courier up, his face constantly changing expressions

Naturally, I had to immediately check the Fleet Junkies thread, read your post, and then post something as well

I never realized that was the last episode of TOS; I suppose now I owe ENT an apology for thinking it had the worst final episode

I remember in the 90s the CW was that Gates had pulled a fast one on IBM to make Microsoft king and later in life learned that it was actually IBM plotting to dominate the PC market and then shooting themselves in the face after succeeding, Gates had had little to do with it

I hate how Steam has their "Hey, here's some of the games you bought and never played, maybe try them?" list on your home screen πŸ˜†

No idea why Emma has a gun in the first cover, though

One of my favorite quotes (that I've posted here before) is from Gibson's "Count Zero": "β€œAnd, for an instant, she stared directly into those soft blue eyes and knew, with an instinctive mammalian certainty, that the exceedingly rich were no longer even remotely human."

Back in 2021 a conservative co-worker got mad that people were still referring to Trump (he was a DeSantis fan) and called him "finished" and "nothing" and said only leftists still talked about him. When I asked if he'd still vote for him if he ran in '24, he said "Of course I would"

The late, great Raul Julia reminding someone that what might be the greatest moment in their lives was just a trivial event in his own, barely worth remembering

The image that comes into my mind blocking a troll that preemptively tells people "If you block me, I win":

I could have sworn that it was somewhat sensible; the Calydonian boar hunt, which I think is the next 'crossover event' features some of the Argonauts for instance

I feel your pain, I've attempted and failed at it since reading Bullfinch's Mythology as a kid. (But it's always fun to find some new information each time)

It's an astonishing statement for Rubio to make considering one of the founding myths of the 'proto-American' European settlers taught in school (the Pilgrims) is that they were a group of Christians fleeing persecution from other Christians

1. Domino (don't mention Copycat)
2. Eowyn (goth)
3. Wonder Woman (first crush)
4. Tendi (we would spend the entire time talking science excitedly)

I was bitterly disappointed by F:NV, but that was because I made the mistake of pre-ordering the Special Edition from Best Buy and went it came in they gave me the regular edition. When I showed the receipt they said "Sorry, we don't have it" and refunded the difference.
Game was great, though!

Arrrghhh, I'm not ready yet, needed to finish up another game first (I still would be happy if it got announced tonight!)

Chaosium, IIRC, badly miscalculated on the CCG craze and it probably didn't help when they became known for not following through on paying writers.
