I’m not sure I would draw too much of a parallel. Investment in US sport has so many niches and quirks that I’m not sure it’s a reliable barometer of possible success at the Owls.

We need practical thinking - some people seem to just assume that we need loads of cash. We need more than that - we need someone who understands how to rescue a failing brand and put it back on track.

2. He would only buy the club to make money, and nowadays this means being in the PL. Buying a club for c£35m, spending ~£100m over 3 years and then having an asset worth c£400m is good business.

3. The retail/commercial side of the club is a disaster - this is crucial and would be quickly sorted.

There seems to be much ill/non-informed tittle-tattle around re prospective #swfc owners at the moment. There has been some strange straw-clutching criticism aimed at the Ashley bid. I think that Ashley is 100% exactly what we need: (1/4)

True football fans do not treat “derby day” as the best day(s) of the season. They are by far the worst; no sleep the night before, gut-wrenching anxiety ahead of the game, a never-enjoyable 90 minutes and often a shitty match too.

I find it strange that Walker isn’t often mentioned in the same way that we talk about Waddle, Sheridan and Hirst. He’s the best defender I’ve ever seen in an Owls shirt by far. I think it’s possibly because he was in the side that got relegated in 2000. Without him, we’d have gone down way earlier.

Hypothetically speaking, if a football club that youve given your life to goes out of business. what next? I can’t watch league football as a neutral, but the idea of adopting a new team feels utterly wrong. it’s an existential crisis. Glad it’s obviously only hypothetical clearly #swfc

I agree - it’s a depressing listen. I really didn’t want to hear that this is a worse situation than any other club has been in (bar Bury). Feels like there’s no way out unfortunately.

I think it’s just an utter lack of acumen on his part. Thinks that he can hold out for a deal to cover his losses. Day by day, the value is deteriorating. Currently we should be seen as a league one asset - and not an attractive one at that. The deck of cards is seemingly collapsing around us.

This is heartbreaking. People’s lives are being affected, and a very real chance that there will be no club to start the season. My only hope is that Chansiri would rather sell for something, rather than destroy an asset completely. Such a sad situation for all of us.

Banned from any paid transfers until 2027, no new player registrations currently and the annual community “Owls in the Park” shindig has been cancelled on ‘safety grounds’

Where is Dejphon Chansiri? At a time where a business he owns is on its knees, he has disappeared. Silence from the club. This is a sporting scandal hammering a once great British sporting institution. A genuine possibility there will be no club to start the season in August. #swfc
