I will defend all the stuff with Sutekh in EoD until the end. I can’t defend the spoon scene though that was pretty ridiculous.

Sutekh killing everyone in Empire of Death does not take away the stakes, for me it shows why the fourth Doctor was so afraid of Sutekh in pyramids and gives all the weapons fit of toms performance extra layers.
