Things feel very easy with the little ones. They want warmth & gentle touch & food & clean dry diapers. They are so pleasant. “Honest dogs,” as we say. AND not a day goes by when I don’t think, “thank g-d we can get those things.” Having babies deepens my awareness of vulnerability in many ways.

Yep. The FB people complaining about pronouns were ostensibly left of center. There’s hardly an “even on the left” left for me.

I imagine most of us are the mushy middle & it takes practice to be otherwise.

I listen to your book often, tho in bits/pieces. Sharlet & Tim Snyder too. (His was conveniently made into a “comic” or “graphic nonfiction” or whatever)

I feel like things are happening too fast for my brain and heart.

Yes. And whether it’s upsetting or not, I can’t find any reason this should be the lede when trans people are losing their lives and livelihoods to organized violence both administrative and physical.

Of course. But I wondered if youd argue that “civility” is also to some extent what enables people to perpetrate concentration camps & other atrocities. Not wanting to rock the boat & so on. But I also think the pols’ performative rage/emotion & refusal to work together is harming the US writ large.
