Mass Deportation Will Save Renters Less Than $5 a Month President Trump wants to deport his way to affordability. But immigration can’t explain the housing crisis, and deportation won’t fix it.

Obviously "mass deportation will lower housing costs" was never a real argument but @mtkonczal.bsky.social crunched the numbers. Get ready to for crimes against humanity to save you a two liter of shasta mikekonczal.substack.com/p/mass-depor...

I am not a Know-Nothing. That is certain. How could I be? How can any one who abhors the oppression of negroes, be in favor or degrading classes of white people? Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy [sic].

Kinda shows the level of elite capture in this country when the guy with the lowest approval ratings in history is going β€œhey you fat pig! I’m going to hamburger conference to say fish sandwich! Also not a sex offender!” and the news is just starting to be like huh wonder if this guy is unpopular

I'm Sorry ... Donald Trump (allegedly) did WHAT to Bill Clinton? YouTube video by Jemele Hill

Between the social media speculation about a Trump-(Bill) Clinton oral sex story, and finding out about Hitler’s small penis condition, I thought: That’s enough Internet for the day.

Then I said screw it and jumped on YouTube to discuss it. Tap in and subscribe!

If you have to get permission to teach in your area of expertise from people who are definitionally not qualified to adjudicate your expertise then you are no longer working at a university.

You’re working at a state propaganda factory.

McGovern: Buried in this bill is a corrupt kickback for eight Republican senators, a million dollar payday funded by taxpayers, taken from the treasury and deposited directly into their pockets. What the hell is wrong with this place?

It is particularly strange to argue against empathy since "empathy" is generated by a normal human brain registering a mirror likeness in another person: an involuntary/instinctive recognition that the other person is in an essential way identical with you. notoriously psychopaths don't register this kinship & can even murder blood relatives without emotion.
Hardly an ideal for humankind.

it is strange the billionaires usually become far rightwing politically. Power corrupts as Lord Acton wrote. They lose all empathy.

Truly it was out of curiosity: why a person with unlimited resources exhibits so little appreciation or even awareness of the things that most people value as giving meaning to life. Just minimally well to do people donate to charities, local museums & libraries & the like; they support the commonweal. & unlike the very wealthy these people pay high income taxes.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.
