When asked if respondents had experienced different forms of discrimination because of their sexual/romantic orientation, 71.2% of ace respondents said “Yes.” Around a quarter of TNB ace (77.3%), LGBPQ ace (76.4%), demisexual (74.2%), graysexual (71.7%), and asexual (71.2%) respondents experienced at least one form of discrimination because of their sexual/romantic orientation. Three in five non-aces (61.0%) reported experiencing at least one form of discrimination, while respondents who were unsure if they were ace represented the lowest percentage of discrimination (54.8%), but the highest percentage of “unsure” answers (17.8%).

Furthermore, 14.5% of aces reported experiencing sexual harassment in-person and/or online. However, more than nine in ten ace respondents reported not having lost material/financial support from family or others (93.1%) and not having experienced physical harassment or violence (91.9%). Over half of ace respondents also expressed not experiencing bullying in- person or online (67.7%), being treated with less courtesy and/or respect than other people (58.6%), people acting as if they were better than the respondents (57.8%), people acting as if they think the respondents were dishonest (53.0%), and verbal harassment in-person and/or online (52.9%).

More than seven in ten ace respondents (72.9%) reported that their mental/emotional health had been impacted on some level, and 12.7% of aces reported major impact. Ace respondents’ relationships with family had the next highest rate of respondents reporting major impact (6.5%), with over half of aces (53.5%) having experienced some level of impact to their familial relationships. Less than five percent of aces experienced major impacts of discrimination, prejudice, or other negative experiences on inclusion in religious/spiritual communities that they were a part of or wanted to participate in (4.8%), inclusion in offline social activities (3.9%), ability to choose a geographic location for their career or travel without concern (3.2%), physical health or wellbeing (2.9%), or inclusion in online social activities (2.8%). In contrast, around four in five ace respondents experienced little to no impact on their ability to find housing or deal with landlords or housemates (88.4%) or their ability to find a job, fit in at a job, or advance in a career (88.3%).
