Man, reflecting on it, it's kinda wild that so much of my vibe/brand has come down this THIS particular short king, whom I was warned by some pretty prominent furry figures, 10+ years ago, was NOT a popular dog breed for a leading man. Feels like I got in on the ground floor for blue heelers.

Umber the Mudwing and Turtle the Seawing are inside their sleeping cave. Umber is lying on his back on a bed-like stone platform while reading a scroll overhead. It is rolled out and sprawling all over his belly and spilling onto the floor. Turtle is a few paces away, lying on his stomach and writing on something. An abacus sits next to him, implying he is doing math. Text: (Sounds of scroll rustling and pen scratching) TURTLE: ...

The same scene as before, except Turtle turns away and starts speaking. Umber, letting his scroll rest on his chest, listens intently. Text: TURTLE: ... So, the Sea Queen hugged me the other day. UMBER: Oh? Your moms? When was that? TURTLE: While the whole Darkstalker kerfuffle happened. I returned home for a bit and she, well, she gave me a hug. For the first time... ever.

This is a skit I wrote a while ago; a hypothetical conversation between Turtle and Umber had the latter never left the academy abruptly.

The format was written for a blog and doesn't translate well to bsky. I tried my best to convert it anyway.
