I also haven’t played my cubes in about a year at this point, so hard to say if I’m successful or not.

Nothing special. I draft with bots as a general way to kill time and just get a holistic feel for things.

I think I’ve played enough Magic at this point to see obvious problems without needing to play or even draft really. It’s just a matter of being honest and cutting cards.

With EOE coming out (and looking pretty cool), I spent some time tidying up A Study in Harmony. The changelist here is massive, but I think the whole project stays true to its concept.

So in that sense, there’s a real danger for the product in moving from being a game to a lifestyle product.

I think this separation is ultimately the hidden killer for the game. Maybe it will never happen on a large scale, but people could easily just wake up one day and realize they don’t actually enjoy the thing that they get together to do and just do something else.

My favorite part of contemporary Magic design is that they created the templating of “once per turn” and “one or more” then just made rares that completely disregard this innovation.

This game is also pretty sick. Played a ton of it in high school.

Modern Naval Battles: Global Warfare You face off against other nations to sink their ships.

Modern Naval Battles had a resource system where you rolled a D6 at the start of every turn to generate "fog of war" which is the resource of that game.

People have always called Vintage Cube a slot machine format -- which was an incorrect analysis -- but now it finally is.

Why bother drafting? All the cards are the same. Like 1 game in each draft actually reaches a decision-making space.

MTGO Vintage Cube gameplay has been reduced to casting three spells per game. Do with that what you will.

Idk, parental guidance seems like the most appropriate rating for The Graduate.

This is the same amount of lands I’ve always had here, which I’ve always felt was quite high. I tend to think that too much fixing actually decreases deck variety. Mardu can be BW, WR, or RB, but if it’s 3 colors it’s always BRW.

Oh I also cut ABU duals for Surveil lands. We’ll see on that one.

Biggest conceptual changes:

Themes are no longer relegated to color groupings.
Card types not found in Alpha aren't here (Equipment's a subtype, chill).
A significant portion of the upper point of the curve was culled.
A lot of the big power points were trimmed.

Most recently I’ve thought about drafting it as a commander cube. I’ve winnowed out most of the 5+ mana cards, but still need to keep paring down I think. The world’s changed a lot in the last two years.
