Actually think a lot of โdebatesโ should force the speaker to always define this
Did I get very bored during the pandemic and make a fake horror movie poster based on this premise? Yes I did

Have worked a lot with parsing urls for webscraping etc but somehow had not explicitly used this trick before when sending someone a link!
23.09.2025 16:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Random useful thing I learned today - when youโre hyperlinking to a url for a pdf, you can append โ#page=11โ at the end of the link to direct the user to land on a specific page when clicking
23.09.2025 16:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Map of the US showing cumulative measles cases reported in 2025 from Johns Hopkins University. Red dots signify imported cases, blue dots signify local. Dot sizes indicate case numbers: 40, 150, and 400. Labels include Los Angeles, Gaines County, New York, Washington, DC.
Centralizing data from diverse reporting systems enables timely, actionable measles surveillance, helping guide public health interventions, improve vaccination efforts, and model outbreak risk more precisely within communities.

This would be great to include as itโs such a real issue rn - I was studying shingles epi as part of my dissertation while simultaneously *several* of my 30-something grad school peers got it! (it can be stress-inducedโฆsigh)

Gun violence has such a massive blast radius the stats never capture. Those who witness it in person, the medical professionals that handle the wounds, the injured who carry the damage with them forever, the families shattered, the communities permanently scarred.

11.09.2025 15:51 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It has always struck me that we collect concrete statistics on mortality and physical injuries from gun violence yet the psychological impacts are even more far-reaching and difficult to quantify
