it department that does not have any brand new keyboards and mice but has hundreds of cables for equipment that we don't use anymore

this feels like shit that a new company would do early on and quickly learn from. we are not a new company (but we've had significant turnover in our department. i wonder why)

there's a massive customer-facing issue and when we opened a ticket we got a response with something like "this is a known issue blah blah"

why the fuck did you. even let us upgrade then

and surprise surprise, it's causing massive headaches. just got a call at midnight to do a preventative measure so i don't get woken up at 2am to have to fix the aftermath of not doing that preventative measure

why would we do an experimental upgrade right before a holiday?? anyone with any sort of sense would've advised against this. they're also trying to do other upgrade roll outs this week. like hello???

i cannot keep working for this mess of a department omfg

even my desk was cluttered up to the point that i'd have to move stuff back and forth between my desk and bed depending on which one i wanted to use in my few hours here

finally got around to cleaning up

my camera was also still on my desk. stuff had just been accumulating (shoutout the Cardboard Box Pile) and i hadn't had the energy to clean or really acknowledge it

as an indication of how little my room has really functioned as a living space since work picked up:

I switched with my coworker this week and I will explode this phone with my mind if it rings tonight

The money would have to be real fuckin good for me to even consider any other job that requires being on call in the future

i have a sort of mental block about getting too close to people online based on past experiences. feel bad that i tend to keep people at arm's length here

i work in the morning though

i input one variable wrong and i need to redo it. it's been running for over an hour and i can't stop it. i hate it here

poor wittle system didn't feel like transferring a file via ftp so now i need to run a process in some ancient ass ibm software

ugHHHH i got a fucking alert at. 2:45 am. that the planned outage location had a system issue that i need to work out

and i was about to take a shower and there was ANOTHER FUCKING OUTAGE (real emergency this time) that i had to make sure was resolved. i haven't done shit today bc stuff just KEEPS HAPPENING

I was told that I'd need to remotely monitor a power outage today (my only off day btw) but there hasn't been any updates since the morning so I think I can just leave it alone now??

the thing that required me to be there at 4 got cancelled. woke up before 3am so i basically made up for my lost bedrotting time👍

If I was smart and just drove home from where I was before doing the extra thing, I probably would've gotten home at like 4? those 2 hours make a big difference...
