No one is happy about being 23rd right now, but we’re 6 points from safety with 27 matches left. We could draw at home against Blackburn/Derby and still finish 15th or something. Obviously the players need a sense of urgency, & to his credit I think PC has got them playing hard and confidently.

I haven’t watched them playing this 3-5-2, but I do remember DF using 3 CB’s in 17-18 (Zimbo, Klose, Hanley). I wonder if it’s the same formation now at Leeds?

I suppose one counterargument might be that Schwartau is really a 10 and Makama a 9, and having pacier, natural wingers might relieve pressure on our FB’s by forcing opposing FBs and MF’s to play more defensively. #ncfc

PC & BK have talked about looking for wingers in Jan but our worst problems are defensive right now, and Schwartau/Makama are playing well. And with Forson/Diallo/Jurasek subbing in (& even Mundle-Smith) that’s not too bad. What we need is a way to stop conceding so much. Healthy FB’s needed! #ncfc

Despite the result today, I’m confident that we’ll survive this season. The two factors that could trip us up IMHO:

1 If the injury/fitness crisis continues this way for the rest of the campaign;
2 If PC can’t make us an average or slightly below average defensive team from here on out.

Yeah, Wright had one good moment - the pass to get Makama in for the shot that led to Sargent’s shot that got blocked - but other than that, lost the ball a few times and passed inaccurately. #ncfc

From what PC has said in interviews so far, I think he’s basing a lot of his choices on who’s fit enough to press and work the way he wants is to out of possession. He also may want to rotate for freshness because of how hard he demands they work. #ncfc
