After Neil Thomas's Ancient rules we decided to give a hex version of his Napoleonic rules a run out.
We used the blocks and terrain from the C&C Napoleonic game and fought Rolica, great fun ๐
Thank you, I used these rules, very simple but fun ๐
25.07.2025 15:16 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Summer holidays means summer games with the grandson. 15mm Ancients with Early Greek Hoplites versus Earl Achaemenid Persians using Neil Thomas rules.
Simple, straightforward and another beating for me ๐คฃ
Figures and buildings property of the late Mike Hobbs, miss you everyday Hobbsy mate ๐

18.07.2025 14:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That went well (not).
J took an extra Section and a SU122.
I put my faith in field defences to try and channel him down the flanks.
The firefight was pretty even till the tank turned up.
A last stand by one of my sections in the objective house was smashed with 11 HE with a storm of steel bonus.
Thanks Adam โบ๏ธ

More to the point, my grandson gets to use his brand new Russian platoon in a game of CoC2.

16.07.2025 22:17 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0WIP Wednesday and I have quite a bit on the go.
Buildings and fencing in 28mm for the Eastern front game i have planned.
28mm T34's etc as supports for J's Russians.
Another 28mm squad of DAK.
And a 15mm railway station for Old Hickory.
Busy busy ๐ช
So true ๐คฃ
11.07.2025 16:34 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Up next, 28mm Napoleonics using Valour and Fortitude.
Never played these rules before, so it's a straight forward scenario with 4 Objective markers (The cows), and 2 brigades per side.
Yep, pumping out the hours here as well. Good to see you back on SM ๐

youtu.be/4HPhthNTcBA?...
Quite the compliment coming from your good self, no, I followed the video to the letter.
I very often watch to see what paints you use to get a certain colour, even if i dont paint them the same way.
Keep up the good work ๐
There's a book in the psychology of wargaming somewhere ๐ค ๐

09.07.2025 11:52 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Now, they won't win any awards, but that was not the point.
I simply wanted to get them done quickly so I could get back to painting my stuff.
I really enjoyed painting them, and J is over the moon with his new army ๐๐
If you haven't used contrast paints before, I highly recommend them.
A series of washes that cover in one go, and form their own shadows and highlights.
I was able to paint everything within a week, what a result!
All the figures in this thread were painted with them, except for their helmets.
