Disaster take incoming: You ever consider that tourism is the disaster?
Or to be more specific - tourism is a facet of the colonial capitalism that makes regions vulnerable.

You don't actually have to spend all of your coverage on how a disaster affects US tourists.

I say this again, and with respect, meteorologists are great. They play a critical role. But relying on meteorologists to discuss disasters on TV coverage is not ideal. Especially when you have them speculating on recovery- which is not something they should be expected to know about.

One characteristic of Hurricane #Melissa that'll always stick w/ me is its lack of "classic" eyewall replacement cycles.

I honestly can't help but think the environmental +SRH was a factor for that, as this modeling study from earlier this yr showed:

I'm reading a journal article about the intersection of emergency management, disasters, the problems inherent in ICS, and complex adaptive systems thinking and it is making my whole PPP capstone project make sense.

Current #Melissa eye diameter of 10nm & 45km wide hurricane force winds projected along current track wouldn't bring much wind impact to Kingston (SE Jamaica). So any eyewall replacement and widening of the storm could bring Kingston into play. But the surge is another beast altogether...
