personally however, i do acknowledge what she said as legitimate at its core. she has every right to feel the way she does and folks need to stop. past that it feels like she missed the mark

we are not (again, for many reasons, some of which are entirely our "fault") written into the blueprint of the future, and that's only changeable alongside - among other things - stuff like strict climate activism. that's the only acceptable discourse here. fearmongering on IG is *not it.*

this is bad for a lot of reasons, all of which are easily fixable with slight adjustments of rhetoric and/or general broadening of discourse surrounding AI. AI may or may not be the future, the point is that it's not for humans to decide whether or not something contains the property of the future

zelda williams' takes on AI make sense only in context of deepfakes. it's a gross misuse of her dad's likeliness and of course it's going to hit close to home, but the general vibe i got from her stories - namely the "stop calling it the future" bit - is that she's painting a broader picture here.
