There is no adult in the room, no one in charge. Turns out a semi-rationalistic elite was, maximum, a 50 year conscious project that was abandoned and can't be taken as an "ideal type" for a ruling class under capitalism.

With the key caveat that we only look at formal networks - in a small tightly knit island society - the results could play a role in Trump’s strategy to find Greenlandic allies. If the elite fracturing can be exploited this could pave the way for major changes in American-European relations.

This division line is also seen between sectors. Politicians are Greenlandic, Private Business leaders Danish. And on key demographics, where politicians have very different education, residence area and gender composition than other groups.

Most importantly, the power elite network is fractured by country of origin. Those with Greenlandic schooling (in orange) occupy particular areas of the network, those without (in black) other areas.

This power elite has many of the same sectors as we have seen in our analysis of Denmark. However, politics (28 %) and state (18 % civil servants and 17 % from state owned corporations) are much stronger.

Based on the recent American territorial ambitions, we decided to finally try to publish our work on formal elite networks in Greenland. How the Greenlandic power elite reacts to American overtures can change the geopolitical of the world.

We find that around half of the 416 individuals in our analysis have taken a degree that installs some sort of technocratic ethos. In our interviews, lawyers pay almost no attention to their professional background whereas it is a strong identity for both politicial scientists and economists

5) Managerialism
6) Scientism
7) Elitism
8) Anti-politics
