Ruth’s research explores how plants manage their internal “supply chains”.

He studies how media and communication shape people’s lives, with a strong focus on social media, mental health, and AI in the workplace (ERC-funded).
We’re proud to welcome him as a tenured full professor at FAU.
Today I appointed Jürgen Held as a Professor at FAU.
His work advances fungal diagnostics, metagenomic infection detection, and AI-based risk assessment. He brings science and clinical practice together to identify infections earlier and treat patients more precisely.
