Guy Prendergast was commissioned into the Royal Tank Corps in 1925 and was posted to 3 Armd Car Coy in Egypt. There he met Sapper officer Ralph Bagnold, an eager explorer, and in 1927 Prendergast joined him on one of the trips through the Sinai in a pair of Ford cars.

The Locarno Conference began on 5th October 1925. The main aim of the conference was to secure post Great War borders and normalize relations between Germany and other European nations.

4 October 1911 | A Czech Jew, Kurt Reach, was born in Prague.

He was deported to #Auschwitz from Theresienstadt ghetto on 18 December 1943. He did not survive.

Strange - the French ones are not the standard cross and usually they have a very respectful shaped headstone for non-Christian faiths. On the Western Front Vanda, the CWGC headstones are beginning to look very much like the Italian ones in many cemeteries.

2 October 1942 | The SS administration at #Auschwitz issued an order of departure for a 5-ton truck to Dessau for "materials for Jewish resettlement". In Dessau, there was a factory producing Zyklon B, which was used to kill people in gas chambers.

1 October 1924 | Polish Jews, Chaim and Wolf Perel, were born in Warsaw. They emigrated to France.

They were deported to #Auschwitz from #Drancy on 19 July 1942. They were both registered in the camp. Chaim perished on 29 September, Wolf on 2 October 1942.

1 October 1901 | A Czech Jew, Antonín Fantl, was born in Beroun.

He was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt ghetto on 28 October 1944. He did not survive.

Grenouissian infantry charge and finally silence the battery that has been tormenting them – but are beaten back by the infantry alongside!

The gallant Wittköpingsland Musketeers, having withstood the attacks of two enemy dragoon regiments, are finally overwhelmed and broken by elite Schwitzer infantry.

The view from the west, with the Borg suffering a traffic jam near the bridge and their position in the centre now looking very precarious indeed. Miniatures mostly 30mm plastic Spencer Smiths, with 30mm metal Holger Erikssons playing the Schwitzers. Terrain a mixture of home made and commercial.

The epic game continues: turn 7 ends with the Grenouissian pressure finally beginning to tell, with a Borg gun captured, a musketeer regiment breaking after being caught in a crossfire, and another finally beaten in a bitter hand-to-hand fight with elite Schwitzer mercenaries. Still all to play for!

Most will not reach one out of three.
