It's simpler than all the other games, but it still has the friction to learn. If you play with normies you will have to remind them of things constantly.

Essentially, Robin Hood is an animal AND a human. Watership Down are animals but not human. "Funny animals" (Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck) were neither human nor animal, but Icons like puppets or mascots.

I've worked with immigrants a lot and I find they're the most "normal Americans" you'll ever meet. They usually bring food to potlach that is different, but in terms of "American values" and work ethic, they get along just fine.

TBH I'd take almost any combat system over the DND model. There's so many great ideas out there, it's a real shame DND is seen as the default.

Another problem with DND is that everyone has so much HP that individual events don't matter. Even a huge attack just brings you one turn closer to a distant end zone. It becomes a game of statistics like baseball. And it's just as slow.

I sort of prefer Norte-ans. I like the sound of "Norte".
