Winter Webinar – Jen Baldwin – The Royal Navy in Family History: Sailors, Ships and Submarines
Love it. ❤️
Reminds me of this placque we have, "Lord keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth."
Picture of quote from Lord of the Rings that reads: "For many years, at days end, I would look up … wondering what might he think if he were watching me. Would he be proud of what I’ve accomplished with his legacy? Or disappointed by the countless ways I’d failed to live up to it? But then, one night, it struck me that I would be only too happy to hear any judgment, so long as it granted me the opportunity to have but one more conversation with my father. Do not waste what time you have left with yours.”
About 4 years ago, I was quite moved by a scene and a quote on the last episode of Lord of the Rings: TheRingsofPower.
Over the weekend we had a near tragedy with my FIL, and I think perhaps it's a good time to revisit this. Time is precious. #Family #Genealogy
not really - certainly not as metaphorical.
'fare un casino' is to make a mess. So, one would say, "Allora, come siano riusciti a fare un casino di tutti cose non lo so davvero."
I thank you in return, as the expression "make such a dog’s breakfast of it" was new to me, until today. 😂

Top tools to create embedded, clickable picture slideshows include Genially, Interacty, and Canva, which allow you to create, customize, and generate embed codes for websites.

To be clear, passenger manifests were created and written out at the point of departure, not arrival. All immigration officials did were to check off the passengers against that list.

AFTER - showing the line returns resulting in a neat description.
BEFORE - no formatting possible. Punctuation required to separate elements.

Equal time - something good from #Ancestry
Text in the Description section in a fact box can now be formatted.
Previously, text was just run-on. Punctuation was needed to separate.

In the highly-likely case that Ancestry ignores our negative feedback, I've found a workaround to avoid that awful display.
In search results, instead of clicking the URL, hover over the URL until a thumbnail appears and then click the thumbnail.

We hope the good people of #SanFrancisco will forgive us for adapting a song about their city in 1967 to address the shocking and tragic events in #Minnesota in recent weeks. This is dedicated to Renée Good and Alex Pretti, and in solidarity. Our version is called "Minnesota" ❤️

In his introduction to De Ente et Essentia, St. Thomas Aquinas remarks that “a little error in the beginning leads to a great one in the end.” He was paraphrasing Aristotle who wrote: “The least initial deviation from the truth is multiplied later a thousandfold.”

Going home, going home
By the waterside, I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul
Fare you well, fare you well

12 maternal, 10 paternal = 22 total from same grandparents
plus 4 maternal from mother's 1/2 sibling

For you consideration, an interesting, and sadly necessary, article by Thomas MacEntee of #Genealogy Bargains about Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Finding Your Roots
