I agree with Áine. Probably AI transcription error (which often fails with even the best writing). To be clear, passenger manifests were created and written out at the point of departure, not arrival. All immigration officials did were to check off the passengers against that list.

In search results, instead of clicking the URL, hover over the URL until a thumbnail appears and then click the thumbnail.
