Finished up a fantastic game of Notorious by @alwayscheckers.bsky.social! I saw a post talking about it recently and it reawakened the urge to play. My nomad, Tal Videt, successfully hunted his quarry, only to be kicked into an automated freight-container-sorter and crushed to death. 10/10

ttrpg design (slowed + reverb)

I often wonder if people who hate buying/playing one-shot ttrpgs also dislike going to the cinema. They fill a similar niche for me, with a comparable £:entertainment ratio (plus the snacks are cheaper).

My favourite album fits the brief 😁

Got a vinyl player for Xmas! I’m sure this won’t awaken any new obsessions in me.

Also fulfilled a lifelong dream of going to warhammer world and winning this huge trophy but that didn’t fit in my song 🎵

With four days till xmas, this year has given me:

- 3 ennie nominations 🐸 👑
- 2 kickstarters run 😰
- and an indie groundbreaker trophy 🏆

I continue to (slowly, over many years) assemble and paint one of the greatest ork collections of our times, yet I don’t think I’ve played a game of 10th edition 40k yet.

The other key source of inspiration that I only mentioned on the KS page was the actual Peasant’s Revolt of 1381.

Although I’m no historian and wanted to make a fantasy game.

FWIW the pessimism in the design of Revolt! is both intentional and convenient given the legacy design I wanted to lean into. 👑 🐸

The answer is two-parts; a desire to lean heavily into a cyclical legacy design (inspired by Oath) and most importantly, a healthy dose of cynicism/despair at the political environment when I was writing it.
