The other key source of inspiration that I only mentioned on the KS page was the actual Peasant’s Revolt of 1381.
Although I’m no historian and wanted to make a fantasy game.

FWIW the pessimism in the design of Revolt! is both intentional and convenient given the legacy design I wanted to lean into. 👑 🐸

The answer is two-parts; a desire to lean heavily into a cyclical legacy design (inspired by Oath) and most importantly, a healthy dose of cynicism/despair at the political environment when I was writing it.
Someone pointed me towards this short YouTube review of Revolt! Really nice (and concise!) summary of the game. 👑 🐸

Oh yeah, now we’re talking! Fall of Magic might just be my favourite game of all time and my group recently played a memorable campaign of City of Winter. I aspired to create something in this space with Revolt!
