it was already bad before this was possible; any unsigned/untraced information will be suspect
also the paragraph above is so strange: "its gonna happen anyways so we make it" is such a weird philosophical idea. like, no? we can construct what objects and processes we wanna live with?

So-called #genAI means the abolition of the future through the proliferation of endless streams of stochastically rendered generic pasts. Having turned large parts of the cultural archive into training data, it now traps us in a foreverized pastness, a 24/7 nostalgia for a past that never existed

Papier: "Chut. J'ai gagné." Pierre: "Mais... Je vais bien ?" Papier: "Lààà... C'est fini. Laisse-toi aller."

A 6-panel comic parodying both Garfield and the Simpsons, starring Homer-Jon & Bart-Garfield mashups. P1: Title panel, showing "Barfield" on a grassy hill, eating a pair of shorts. P2: Hojo is on left of frame, while Barfield is on the right. Howjo says: "Boy. We should allow new generations to build & create new forms of culture, rather than recycling & repackaging the old for them, ad-nauseam. We should let the things we love die." P3: the same image, complete silence. P4: Barfield speaks: "Ay, lasagna." P5: Hojo closes his eyes in exasperation, letting out a breath before he does what must be done. P6: A closeup of Hojo --tears in his eyes-- as he chokes & throttles Barfield by the throat.

dear future: i was trying
yeah totally. i think it also comes down to the fact that its not just purely ethical questions, but arguments with real world, measurable consequences. this makes arguing about it even more tricky and maybe at some point we are just forced to accept those hardened political stances on the subject
25.09.2025 09:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0yeah i get that; for me it is the lack of "specificness" about it that also is incredibly hard to handle. If you are worried about totalitarism, by whom? why? think deep down this is a cry for a less complex world, one where things are under control. but that is a hard and hurtful argument to bring

Still, this definition does not work on how to inform public health decisions, merely personal choices in doc - patient relations
What helped me a tiny bit was to circle back to a definition of health the WHO at least had for some time: health is a subjective state of mind; eg you can have a broken ankle but still feel healthy. If you look at cov response with this lens, it to some degree explains why some people -
