I wonder how they managed going downhill. Reverse the position of the horses to prevent the heavy cannon from careening down the hill?

With all due respect to basket weavers, I'm just glad he didn't cite History as one of his so-called pointless disciplines to pursue!

C.P. Stacey's "The Canadian Army 1939-1945" has maps like this. Particularly useful for military history!

Now we learn the billionaire owner of a bridge that will compete w/the new Canada-MI bridge met with Lutnick right before Trump issued his threat to shut down the new bridge. The Trump admin is a lawless mafia gangster extortion racket existing to enrich oligarchs at our expense.

Ah, nuts. I forgot they played so early (Canadian time). Another boneheaded play by Romero?

As a Canadian, I cannot advocate travel to the US anytime soon.

At Queenston Heights and Lundy's Lane
Our brave fathers side by side
For freedom's home and loved ones dear,
Firmly stood and nobly died.
And so their rights which they maintained,
We swear to yield them never.
Our watchword ever more shall be
The Maple Leaf Forever!

Alexander Muir, 1867

I've noticed that a couple times lately. The emails are written by AI, so at first it actually seems like it's an admirer who's writing. Then, sadly, you realize it's not!

Never in my life have I been more concerned, shocked, and disgusted with US affairs, both internally and their behaviour internationally. It would be fascinating if it wasn't so dangerous.

The ambassador should be called to the carpet on this. No canadian should set foot in America. This is an escalation.

Neat! I remember frequently encountering that font at that time, in elementary school. Funny how Font People start young!

Here's an example, but I see that Souvenir seems a little bolder, but the two fonts are similar. The photo is from "Canadian Children's Annual 1979" published by Potlatch Publications, Hamilton, Ontario.

This font reminds me of the one used in many Canadian schoolbooks in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Perhaps it's the same one, or something similar.

Another step - a big one - in Canada's gradual evolution towards independence. Largely completed when we repatriated our constitution in 1982.

Danielle Smith uses notwithstanding clause to declare herself premier of B.C. Prime Minister Mark Carney disagrees with the concept of a premier of one province unilaterally taking over a different province but his hands are tied by his unwillingness to do anything about it.

There were many indications that US officials were working at the behest of Russia. Now there's evidence. Pretty bloody concerning at any time, but especially when they're waging war in Ukraine and threatening the rest of Europe! That's a serious crisis, my friends.
