I think this might be just as important as the Split Brain Resolver which, if I remember right, also came out of academic work. I can see your Actor GC similar role for long-running, dynamic systems. Feels like one of those missing pieces we didn’t know we needed until now.

What really surprises me is how this was never a broader topic of discussion. Maybe the Akka community did talk about it somewhere, but I think many of us just assumed actors would clean themselves up by design.
