A watercolor painting of a satyr embracing a young man from behind, gently peeling apart the man's flesh on his chest. Birds emerge from the opening in the man's chest. The man reaches one hand to back to caress the satyr's face, the other presses the satyr's hand to his chest. There's some circular celtic knotwork designs on the borders. The overall colors are warm golds and browns.

Finally finished this up! It's done in watercolor, gouache, and color pencils. I know I should try to render it in more detail but I'm not sure I want to. I like the texture being able to be textures. Maybe that will change in the future. For now, though, I like it 😅

Un poco de contexto. Persona es el sistema de verificación de identidad biométrica financiada por Peter Thiel (Palantir/ PayPal). A mediados de 2025, Palantir fue nombrada como líder en plataformas de IA y aprendizaje automático, superando a Google y a Microsoft.

Agree. In the end opinions are subjective and what someone finds appealing might be the complete opposite for another.

Also, something being "bad" is not equal to not being enjoyable (not the case for me with this movie XD)

I didn't know the book nor the author, but I just read the plot and it sounds very interesting. Another one that goes to the pile of future reads

I didn't even find it visually cohesive. It was a Pinterest board with beautiful images devoid of connection between them and a bunch of references to other films and paintings. None of the characters seem to live in the same universe.

Most of the story is narrated by Nelly, and since it's the only POV we as readers have, we have to take it as truth. But it could also be told by someone else, imagining how those events were lived by other characters, filling the gaps of information.

Wuthering Heights is a difficult story to adapt, but I also think there are so many ways you could give it a twist and it would still work.

I'm not even going to comment on what they did to Isabella, Edgar being POC and Headcliff white.

I also felt that the eroticism was only based on "Jacob Elordi is hot" and weird parallelisms between food and sexual desire that resemble cringy TikTok cooking videos with pseudoerotic subtext.

If you want to only focus on the relationship between Heathcliff and Cathy senior, that's okay, but the treatment of the whole story felt very superficial, even that.

The book is complex and touches on different topics as class, racism, DV, trauma, etc. To me it's a drama containing people who are in love (not in a healthy way), but not a love story itself. In a 2h film it's normal to make the chop to some things and change others.

But the new piece, even if it butchers the original, should at least work as a separate work. And to me this movie missed all the points.

I'm not usually a purist when it comes to book adaptations/retellings. The source material will always be there and it can be very interesting seeing that same story through different people's eyes in different periods of time.

I watched "Wuthering Heights" the other day and it felt like a cheesy self-insert fanfic by someone who didn't like the book and was horny.
I don't think I liked anything about it 😭

Happy Lunar New Year! I've been experimenting with traditional Korean paints for this illustration inspired by "The Unicorn in Captivity" - using elements from Minwha 민화 but also fantasy and tarot cards. Truly a mixture of everything!
