Look I just want you all to know that if you need to take some time for yourself, turn off your phone and barricade yourself into a labyrinth of books from whence you shall emerge only once every 1000 years to wreak havoc on the realms of men, that's perfectly natural ok

Absolutely comps help, especially if your book style/content is “outside the mainstream”—it helps show that there’s a market for what you write! If you’ve got solid comps, don’t be afraid to query! Research what agents are looking for so you can find the best fit (it’s all subjective here 😬)

While I may enjoy an ms personally, I have to weigh if it’s marketable in the US/UK market. There are so many great stories I have to pass on because of this 😭 but if your book has great foreign sales, then western publishers will be interested, no matter if the style is different!
