Pete Hegseth Should Be Charged With Murder
No matter how you look at the strikes on alleged “drug boats”—as acts of war or attacks on civilians—Hegseth has committed a crime and should be prosecuted.
If we're not at war, Pete Hegseth is a murderer. If we are at war, Pete Hegseth is still a murderer. He's a murderer. And you don't need to go to The Hague to hold him accountable because there are perfectly good, American laws AGAINST MURDER.

This would be a war crime even if there were an actual war and these people were actual combatants, which there isn't and they weren't.
It's unquestionably an unlawful homicide under any form of law you wish to apply: military or civilian, domestic or international, federal or state. ...

Congress Must Loudly Affirm: The Military Must Refuse Illegal Orders
Text SIGN PVDVSY to 50409 — I am writing today with a simple and urgent request: every member of Congress, regardless of party, must publicly affirm a principle that is foundational to military discipline, American law, and the Constitution—U.S. service members must refuse illegal orders.
This rule is not partisan. It is not new. It is not controversial in any professional military context. It is the law.
Last week, several veterans now serving in Congress released a short video reminding service members of their oath and this long-standing legal requirement. Senator Mark Kelly—retired Navy captain, combat veteran, and former astronaut—participated in that message. His statement merely repeated what is written plainly in the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Army Field Manual: following unlawful orders is not a defense, and troops are expected to refuse them.
Despite this, the Pentagon announced it is “investigating” Sen. Kelly, citing the ability to recall retired service members for disciplinary action. It is extraordinary for the Department of Defense to target a sitting senator over a lawful, accurate statement of military obligations. Constitutional scholars across the political spectrum have already warned that using military recall authority in this way risks violating the separation of powers and legislative independence.
Meanwhile, the President escalated the rhetoric by accusing the lawmakers of “sedition” and reposting calls for them to be put to death. These comments were so concerning that congressional leaders contacted law enforcement to ensure members’ safety. Regardless of party, this is not the direction our country should go.
Sen. Kelly responded by reaffirming his lifetime of service and stating that he would not be intimidated from doing his duty. His message was not about politics—it was about the rule of law.
That is why Congress must step forward now.
If only one or two members defend the principle that illegal orders must be refused, they become isolated targets. But if Republicans and Democrats alike make the same statement, it becomes what it truly is: a shared commitment to lawful military conduct and constitutional government.
This is not about opposing any President. It is not about second-guessing policy. It is about ensuring that our military—as an institution—remains grounded in legality, order, and discipline. Every member of the armed forces, from the newest recruit to the highest-ranking officer, benefits from clear expectations and a united message from civilian leadership.
When future crises come—and they always do—the stability of our country will depend on Congress speaking with one voice on this basic point:
American service members must obey lawful orders, and they must refuse unlawful ones. Supporting them in that duty is not partisan—it is patriotic.
I urge you to join your colleagues in affirming this essential principle publicly and without hesitation.

Investigate Potential Treason by President Trump and Secretary Hegseth
Text SIGN POWYGX to 50409 — I am writing to urge you to immediately investigate deeply troubling allegations that President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have engaged in conduct that may meet the constitutional definition of treason. These allegations, now circulating publicly, include claims that the President declared a “war from within” to military leadership and employed federalized National Guard forces against U.S. states over the explicit objections of governors. If substantiated, such actions could constitute “levying war against the United States,” one of the only two definitions of treason established by the Constitution.
Our Constitution deliberately defines treason narrowly. It is not a term to use lightly, and I do not do so here. But neither can Congress ignore serious, credible allegations that a sitting President has used military authority in a way that targets the United States itself or its states as enemies. Even the suggestion that the President directed military force domestically with the stated intent to “wage war” against internal political opponents demands immediate, bipartisan scrutiny.
Reports claim that President Trump expressed intentions to use military and federalized Guard forces not to protect the nation, but to “straighten out” political rivals and dissenting states, framing it as an internal war. The reported deployments and federalizations allegedly proceeded despite objections from governors who viewed the moves as unlawful, unnecessary, and unsupported by facts on the ground. If these accounts are accurate, the President may have sought to use military power not in service of national defense but as a personal weapon against the very constitutional order he is sworn to uphold.
Congress cannot treat such allegations as political noise or rhetorical exaggeration. You are the branch of government specifically entrusted with the power of impeachment and the responsibility to guard against abuses of power, including treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. That responsibility is not optional. It does not depend on election cycles, party politics, or public fatigue. It depends solely on the rule of law.
I am asking you to do the following:
1. Demand the full release of transcripts, orders, communications, and memoranda related to the President’s alleged “war from within” remarks and all directives concerning Guard deployments and federalizations.
2. Convene or support a formal investigation through the appropriate committees to determine whether any actions taken by the President or Secretary Hegseth constitute levying war against the United States or its states, abuse of military authority, or other impeachable offenses.
3. If the evidence supports it, move forward with articles of impeachment that reflect the gravity of the offense. Treason, or any conduct approximating it, cannot be minimized or ignored.
If the allegations are false or overstated, an investigation will provide transparency, restore confidence, and reaffirm constitutional boundaries. If they are true, then Congress must act decisively to uphold its oath and protect the Republic.
Silence or inaction in the face of these claims would be an abdication of constitutional duty. Please treat this with the urgency it demands.

Support the Hands Off Our Social Security Act to Protect Vital Benefits & Staff
Text SIGN PESAOR to 50409 — Today I’m writing to urge your strong support for the Hands Off Our Social Security Act, (H.R. 4734) recently introduced by several Democratic lawmakers. This important legislation aims to safeguard the Social Security system that over 70 million Americans rely on for retirement and disability income.
The urgency of this matter cannot be overstated. Social Security trustees have warned that the program's retirement trust fund could be depleted by 2033, potentially leading to automatic benefit reductions if Congress fails to act. This looming crisis demands immediate attention and proactive measures to protect this vital social safety net.
The Hands Off Our Social Security Act also offers a comprehensive approach to preserving the integrity of the Social Security Administration (SSA) and its services.
As you know, it would prevent unauthorized changes to benefits, block any attempts at privatization, enforce essential privacy protections, and maintain the accessibility of services through both phone and in-person options.
Equally as important, the bill also addresses recent concerns about SSA staffing reductions and field office closures by requiring congressional approval for significant personnel cuts and mandating impact reports before any field office closures.
As your constituent, I strongly believe that protecting Social Security is not just a matter of fiscal responsibility, but a moral imperative. Millions of Americans have paid into this system throughout their working lives with the expectation of security in their retirement or in case of disability. We must honor this social contract.
While I understand that the current political landscape may present challenges for passing this legislation, I implore you to press for its consideration in committee and to advocate for broader Congressional attention to this critical issue. The future financial stability of millions of Americans hangs in the balance.
Please support the Hands Off Our Social Security Act and work diligently to ensure that Social Security remains a robust and reliable program for generations to come. Our community here and in many states around the country are relying in Congress to do the right thing.
Thank you.

Trump’s FDA Cuts Leave Foreign Food Uninspected — and Americans at Risk
Text SIGN PCBUDQ to 50409 — A new ProPublica investigation and corroborating data from the Government Accountability Office confirm a dangerous collapse in U.S. food safety oversight. Under Donald Trump, foreign food inspections by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have fallen to historic lows — even lower than during the pandemic years. The agency’s own public dashboard and GAO analysis show that the FDA averaged just 917 foreign food-facility inspections per year between FY 2018 and 2023, against a congressional mandate of 19,200 annually under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). That’s barely 5 percent of the target.
This decline comes as America has never relied more heavily on imported food. According to the FDA, 94 percent of our seafood, 55 percent of fresh fruit, and 32 percent of fresh vegetables now come from abroad — produced in more than 125,000 foreign facilities across 200 countries. In-person inspections are the only way to verify that these suppliers maintain sanitary conditions, conduct accurate pathogen testing, and prevent contamination.
Yet those inspections have been gutted. Roughly one in five FDA employees responsible for food and drug safety has been laid off or forced out since Trump’s staffing cuts began. Investigators who once traveled to inspect foreign facilities are now bogged down with their own travel logistics and unreimbursed expenses, with more than $1 million in backlogged reimbursements reported. Morale has cratered, and institutional knowledge has vanished as senior inspectors retire or quit.
The administration’s so-called “efficiency” measures have also suspended the FDA’s quality-control program across 170 food-testing laboratories and scaled back the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network to track only two pathogens — salmonella and one strain of E. coli. These actions, combined with inspection collapse, have “decimated basic regulatory oversight functions,” according to Consumer Reports’ food-policy director.
Congress established the FSMA after repeated outbreaks linked to imported food, recognizing that inspection and traceability save lives. Those safeguards have now been hollowed out. As one FDA official told reporters, “It’s only a matter of time before people die.”
I urge you to hold immediate hearings on the status of foreign food inspections, compel testimony from the Department of Health and Human Services and the FDA, and restore staffing and oversight funding to pre-Trump levels. America cannot afford a food-safety collapse born of political neglect.
Protect the nation’s dinner tables. Restore the FDA’s strength.
