My dad's apprentice is a trans guy, and his endo is retiring he can't find one in the area that's accepting patients. He's been freaking out about not being able to get T.

I called my dad at lunch time (it's his bday). And he was telling me that he had his annual physical yesterday and was talking with his very rural, good old boy doctor, who he's been going to for years. And my dad asked if he could reccommend an endocrinologist.

Since you have a bigger reach than me- can you also remind people that the surgery most given to trans/non gender conforming minors is breast reduction or removal, however, of all breast reduction surgeries given to minors, like 95% are to cis gendered boys (which no one ever had an issue with).

I feel like this is exactly what he's going through. Although his family has been supportive and his friend group doesn't seem to care (the relationship he was in prior to us meeting was incredibly toxic and they all saw how bad it got, so their just happy he's happy). But it's a total mindfuck.

Anyway, maybe I should get to work on my rebuttal: In defense of straight guys who date trans girls...

At its core, this seems unfair to everyone. It's unfair to my boyfriend and to me and to our relationship. But it's also deeply unfair to actual gay men. They deserve their space, not to be disturbed by a straight guy and his trans girlfriend.

He's easy going and has reassured me over and over and over that he's where he wants to be and I know him to be very sure of himself. But that's still pretty wild, right? That he'd have to defend his heterosexuality because he's with a trans girl?

I don't want to say that it's caused him to have an identity crisis, but he said it is something that messes with him. It's something he and his therapist have talked about. He knows that he's not gay, but there are pockets of media and corners of the internet that insist he must be.

But I never really thought about the situation from my boyfriend's perspective. My bf is a heterosexual man. He's only ever been attracted to women. Yet because he's with me, there are some who insist he's a gay man. Again- putting him into a group that he has no business being a part of.
